In 1978 a South African family specializing in fine diamonds opened their US office in Atlanta and Georgia Diamond Corporation was established. For over 30 years in the US we have built a reputation as an outstanding source for the "best of the best" diamonds from around the world. GDC is proud to be one of the few offices in the world invited to purchase their diamonds directly from De Beers.
We prize this relationship and continue to nurture our relationships with the finest cutters in South Africa, Russia and Israel. Catherine Ryder fine jewelry is the difference between paint on canvas and a work of art. Each piece we produce demonstrates the finest raw materials, true master craftsmanship and comparable only with the finest jewelry brands in the world.

Virtually all diamond sellers on the Web simply download inventory from a variety of diamond wholesalers and have no interest in whether the diamonds being offered are brilliant with delicate inclusions or less than desirable. Offering diamonds for sale without critical examination by a true expert is a "highly troublesome" proposition.
Two diamonds (certified by the same lab) with identical weight, color and clarity are invariably 'not equal' in value. One could be worth considerably more than the other. There are many aspects to a diamond beyond the information provided in a diamond certificate, including the GIA. 2. Diamond laboratories certify any diamond submitted for grading whether they are beautiful or not.
Our group owns and operates one of the few 'Excimer' cool laser diamond inscription machines in the world. This remarkable [$100,000+] laser technology inscribes by penetrating the surface of the diamond one fifth of a micron. The inscription is permanent, visible only under magnification and can be removed by a skilled diamond polisher without affecting weight or quality.
We recommend buyers select in the "D to J" range for two reasons; first whiter diamonds are simply more beautiful and second, historically the better colors increase in value more rapidly. Two diamonds with the same GIA color grades will not necessarily face up the same to the naked eye. Every diamond is unique and shows color and brilliance a little differently.
Diamonds are priced "per carat" and the heavier the diamond the higher the price per carat. The 2.00 carat in the same quality would cost $7700 per carat = $15,400 total for the stone. To recover a single rough diamond weighing 1.00 carat, a mine must process approximately 20 tons of earth. A rough diamond will lose 30 to 60 percent of its original weight in the cutting process.
