The Lester Group was established in 1896 by G.T. Lester in Martinsville, Virginia. At the time, The Lester Group was known as the Lester Lumber Company. It originally consisted of a small sawmill and planning mill, with a small tract of timber land. Over the course of its first 100 years, the company has grown into a multi-faceted operation with the strength to survive two major fires and numerous economic highs and lows.
The retail store was organized in 1949 as Wholesale Supply Company. In 1964 the company structure reorganized with the larger retail arm as Lester Home Center. In 2005, the company updated the name to Lester Building Supply. Today, The Lester Group, Inc. includes three building supply dealers, in addition to Lester Building Supply.

I dropped off my chain saw 3 weeks ago and called to see if it was done. I was on hold 12 min before I was able to talk to someone. They said that it was and since there's no slip on it , it must of been done under warranty. I drove 40 min to Lesters to pick it up and when they gave it to me it took all of 30 seconds to determine that it was never even touched. The employee should of been absolutely certain that it was completed but instead decided to save himself 30 seconds of work which costed the customer 1 1/2 hours of his. His excuses was that he wasn't a mechanic and didn't know. Then why
