North Haven Gardens
Download Your Guide Fall Fruit & Citrus Is Here! Clockwise from left: Improved Meyer Lemon. Since 1951, North Haven Gardens has been the go-to garden center and plant nursery for those in Dallas, TX and the surrounding areas. What began as a small, family-run plant nursery has become a highly respected horticultural undertaking, still with a legacy of family and professionalism.

As experts in the industry, we are committed to ensuring you have all the knowledge, skills, flowers, and foliage you need to create a truly beautiful landscape, vegetable garden, or terrarium. North Haven Gardens (NHG) believes education is essential, with plant experts available to help you figure out how to seed and maintain your gardens in Dallas, TX.
Services
Ira Duncan, NHG's original Rosarian, standing with a collection of roses grown in nursery cans in what is now our front parking lot (circa 1956). North Haven Gardens has a rich history here in Dallas. In 1951, Ralph and Muriel Pinkus founded NHG as a small nursery on nine acres of grassland along Northaven Rd. north of Dallas.
With over 40 years in working in the horticulture, retail and design industries, Rusty began at NHG in 2011 as Garden Advisor. Promoted in 2014, he schedules all on- and off-site programming for North Haven. Greatly enjoying teaching others the many rewards of gardening, Rusty loves to focus on organics, wildscaping, Texas natives.
Since 1951, North Haven Gardens has earned a reputation for consistent quality, outstanding customer service, and knowledgeable and experienced staff. We believe that our employees are our most valuable resource, and we invest in staff development to help our team members develop their full potential.
We also pride ourselves on our knowledgeable staff and library of learning resources to help all levels of gardeners grow with confidence. First, you'll need to select a location for your vegetable garden. An edible garden will need at least six hours of full sun every day, so this is the most important consideration in choosing where to locate your garden.
North Haven Gardens does not offer landscape design or maintenance services, but we field numerous inquiries for these services. This list includes businesses which have been in business in DFW for at least three years and possess and maintain basic related certifications pertinent to their work (TCNP/TCLP, Certified Arborist, Irrigator's license, APLD, etc).

I called to ask about a cactus for a gift and they recommended another place and were super helpful! I have never been there but now I will certainly shop there!

Not gonna lie.. my first time here I was wildly impressed; their selection of plants and decor is amazing. However a recent trip there has discouraged me from from shopping there ever again.

I recently took back an infected boobie cactus (I bought it as a plant newbie and didn't realize it had scale- or what scale was for that matter- until it was too late). The manager was arguing with me saying that my cactus was "healthy" and that "that's just the way they are," meanwhile there is a lot of discoloration and there were several large scales all around it.. The premier place to find fox urine in Dallas/Fort Worth. Calloway's sells fox urine too, but it doesn't taste nearly as good.

Holy moly this place is a dream. I had the pleasure of being helped by Molly. This sweet girl was a breath of fresh air. She was so helpful, so kind, so knowledgeable and you could tell she loved her job. Not only is the garden absolutely stunning, their plants are beautiful. Everyone there is eager to help and have smiles of their faces. They will even re-pot a plant for you as well. This is where you want to spend your money and time.

Woah, NHG... I have shopped here for years, despite your having the most expensive prices in town, because you have good plants and typically helpful employees.

But today was my last day shopping with you. Twice the price AND an attitude from the staff? Hell no.

The staff at North Haven gardens is amazing! On Sunday May 16 there was a bad storm? Tornado? in our neighborhood. They took my dog, Bosque, who escaped from my back yard after my fence was blown down, put a North Haven T shirt on him, tried to console him, and called me. Thank you! I could not ask for better neighbors!

First off, love them for continuing safety precautions even after the mask lift. It makes me feel so much safer to have curbside pick-up available and if I need to go inside, everyone is wearing masks and practicing social distancing. Love em.
But, this is a review long over due. I've been visiting them since I moved to TX about 2 yrs ago and boy, they are so HELPFUL. I came here from CA, (a dry heat) and before that, grew up in RI (insane temps of all kinds and snow. So much snow). All my knowledge on gardening sent off to sea. New soil type, long spells of humid heat and no rain. There

My favorite place to shop for all my garden needs! Love their amazing variety of flowers and plants both outside and indoor. Exceptional quality! Amazing customer service and all their staff are garden experts and able to answer any questions! I'm so glad they rebuilt since the Dallas tornado and I love coming here on the weekend to buy flowers and plants for my garden. They adhere to covid precautions and wearing masks so all will feel comfortable.

Dishonest The week before the freeze and snow I went to look at strawberries but decided to delay my purchase because of the weather coming. I placed an order for strawberries for after the bad weather. The store called me and told me to come in because they had strawberries after the snow. When I got there they didn't look very good. I spoke to one of their garden experts and he said he would pick out the ones that we're good and I went ahead and took them home. When I went to plant them I nurtured them for a few days but they looked dead. I called the store and talk to them, they said

This nursery has been the creme de la creme of Dallas area nurseries for decades. You can come here expecting great healthy selection of not only routine landscape plants but, additional specimens hard or impossible to find elsewhere.

They have recently torn down old building's constructed new modern ones and improved the flow and lay out.

I always find something unique, unusual and different here, as I did today.

Definitely should be on your short list, if you haven't been.

Wow! We absolutely love this place. It was so clean and organized; you really don't want to leave. We had an idea of what we were looking for, but talking to the extremely helpful staff made it much easier to decide what we wanted. Before heading over, we spoke with Dana who has been extremely helpful. When we arrived, we are assisted by Marxel, who was absolutely phenomenal! You can tell Marxel not only enjoys his job, but he is extremely knowledgeable. Thank you for a fantastic experience! We are looking forward to watching our bushes and tree bloom in the coming years.

My absolute favorite plant store! If you want fair prices, wide and healthy variety, any accessory you need and friendly master gardeners waiting to answer any question this place is for you.

As far as your indoor gardening, they are the once place I know I can go and find something rare and generally hard to find. I always find it hard to pick only a few things, and if I didn't restrain myself every window in my house would be covered over with their exotic finds.

Last year I decided to try outdoor veggies and herbs, and every single plant I bought not only thrived, it produced a harvest

Knowledge, selection, and inspiration. Highly recommend this place to anyone no matter what your experience level is with plants. I like to find out what new plants this place has. I'm a big succulent fan, and this is the best place I've found to discover new varieties of succulents. I love going here because I know the plants are going to be healthy. This places feels like home now because I've been there so often. Sometimes I go there just to find some peace in the plants.

If there is only one five star nursery in town (actually there are a few) it would be North Haven Gardens. North Haven Gardens is located in an upscale north Dallas neighborhood, on North Haven just west on Central Expressway. They have been here as long as I can remember and I have always enjoyed come here. They got everything...

-want to take some classes before planting your garden at home? They got several classes to choose from.

-want to have some unique plants that the big box stores don't carry? check, they got them.

-have a pond and need some plants? They got a lot to choose

Amazing cafe in a beautiful setting. I was in town for two days and was looking for a cafe to sit and work for a couple of hours. When I saw they had avocado toast on the menu, I knew that was the place for me. I set the GPS with the address, and pulled in... to a garden center! I had to check to make sure I was in the right place.

The cafe is nestled inside the garden center, with tables inside and out. The garden provides a lovely backdrop for breakfast or lunch, with an art gallery right next door.

The avocado toast was amazing... seasoned with lime juice, olive oil, black sesame seeds and
