Mrs Mac's Kitchen
Mrs. Mac's Kitchen was originally founded by Jeff MacFarland in 1976 who named it in honor of his mother and her recipes. Built in 1947 the building was one of the few places in the Keys where you could get a bite to eat as Grainger's Gulf Side Inn. In 1987 Jeff hired Angie as a cook where they began working side by side, shortly after Paula was invited to work with them.

In 1988 Mrs. Mac's was purchased by Angie. Jeff moved to Vero Beach where he has Mrs. Mac's Filling Station restaurant. Sisters, Paula & Angie, continue to work together today. While keeping with many original recipes we have expanded in all areas. We have continuously been voted "The Best" in the People's Choice Awards and Best Hometown Cafe along with numerous other awards and acknowledgements.

The fish and shrimp basket was not only fresh but the batter was crispy as well. Don't pass up the coleslaw. That was a nice surprise. We also shared the conch fritters.

The food was good and the pie was good.
We had a large table and one couple had their food come out a little later than the others so they gave them a free slice of pie. 😃
Cash only because of a nationwide shortage of something? 🤷‍♂️Lol

Definitely a local hot spot! Friday night was buuuuusy! Service was fast and friendly and food was amazing. Loved the pepper jelly on top of my sub sandwich. Also, I can see why their chili was award winning. Full of flavor!
Would definitely return.

Take out order of key lime pie was a winner! It really lives up to the hype and was the best of 4 pies I tried...

I LOVE key lime pie, so naturally had to try it from a world famous source during a day trip to Key Largo. It was excellent: slightly tart and really creamy filling, just a hint of whipped cream on top, uniquely flavored thick crust (this was the special touch that made it unforgettable). Very solid. Very worth stretching my dietary restrictions for a few bites. Paired with a good experience in restaurant, including a cute interior (diner meets kitschy travel vibes - not at all what

Omg, do not go here! This was seriously one of the worst meals I have ever had. I went with two other people and none of us liked our food - at all. It was basically really bad diner food that was waaaaaay over priced. Also, the meal I got was $33. Where else do you know where you can get that much yellowtail for that cheap? This was very bad, I wouldn't recommend this to anyone.

We were hunting for ice cream and the BEST Key Lime Pie. So we while we got the best Pie, the ice cream was not great at all - too watery, too tasteless and missing cream as ingredient at all!

I give 3 stars because of the missing smile how the service was performed.

Visited Mrs Macs II for lunch the other day...so we had to try the Original for breakfast today. Again it did not disappoint!

We have had a lot of great breakfasts during this vacation, but this was perfect from start to finish...

Yummy food! As others mentioned, you should def stop by if you're in the keys. They are dog friendly :) all of our meals were about $10. The only thing is their "special sauce" is primarily vinaigrette which I didn't know, and I'm not a fan of vinaigrette, so I wouldn't have put it on my Philly cheesesteak sandwich. Other than that, everything was great. Staff were so kind and helpful.

Their crab cakes are to die for!!! I miss it already. Sweet potato fries and lobster bites were great too. We didn't like the fish tho. It was dry and bland.
Our friend from Europe was very impressed by the southern hospitality from our server. The decor was very unique with walls covered by plates from all over the country.

Excellent meal. Sat outside and wouldn't say there was a view but the food made it worth it which is what it's really about. Ordered the relleno fish plate and my friend ordered the yellowfin tuna and we were both very satisfied. Garlic herb vinaigrette was great on the salad. Our meal came with a side and a dinner role. It was so much food. Yet we had to make room for the famous key lime pie and my was it worth it. Good enough to make a lactose intolerant person eat her fair share. She said it was worth the pain that would come later. It wasn't too sweet and tasted so fresh. And

Driving to Key West but need a good quality and decent priced breakfast? Stop here!

Unfortunately no pancakes for the kids but they do have delicious waffles! With all kind of toppings too. I am more of an eggs and bacon guy for my brekkie. See the picture! Perfect :)

All in all well priced and they don't make you feel rushed at all even though its busy. Next time I go to the keys, I will definitely get my breakfast here again.

Great decor, ambiance and service. A true staple!

This place is very "key west" it's a cute little dive bar and the food was great, but most of the menu was fried so just know that going in.

We had the coconut shrimp basket and crab cakes. The coconut shrimp was very good! It was much better than anything I've had in Hawaii, Seattle or San Diego. The home fries are slides potatoes and in my opinion, way tastier than fries.

The key lime pie was a bit too tart for me but that's just key limes. Overall it was a great experience!

Yes to say yes for so many reasons my heart sings thank you for such a wonderful breakfast and happy friendly experience. It's not often in the Keys you find such awesome hospitality and happy friendly employees; singing, and having some fun.

Breakfast was just like home, so was fantastic. Loved the ham. Perfect eggs, which technically aren't exactly easy to do with carry over cooking time and such. Were perfect. Mac Mary was woo hoo hoo!!! Really like their branded hot sauces. And the hash casserole was so good my table mate stole up half of what I had.

We'd done the one across

So happy that we were finally able to stop at Mrs. Mac's Kitchen! Little necks in garlic, butter & herbs (fresh baked garlic bread on the side) stuff to crave for. We ordered extra bread and it arrived to our table straight out of the oven. I don't normally like fried seafood but we ordered the tempura fried seafood platter and it was delicious. Drinks are huge, I needed two hands to hold my ginger ale! We had the conch fritters which ai liked, but not with cocktail sauce. I'd suggest asking for a thousand islands dressing or a honey mustard mix, otherwise just squeeze some lime on it and enjoy

(4.75 stars) It is rare and I do mean rare, that Hubby researches restaurants, but he did and said, we had to make it to Mrs. Mac's Kitchen.

Our smorgasbord of omelets, bacon, eggs, grits, sausage, alligator sausage (yes alligator, my son is the product of a Floridian), Belgian waffles, toast, biscuits and orange juice were all delicious!!!

.25 of a star taken, because we did not receive the ice cream that was ordered with the Belgian waffles.

FYI, There's also a Mrs. Mac's Kitchen II.

The key lime pie is definitely worth trying (love the crust), however the key lime freeze is even better. I ordered the chilly nachos (Nacho Supreme) which was a large portion, hearty and good. Though this isn’t the original location, it’s definitely worth checking out. Look out for the lizards.

We traveled down from Ocean Reef to try their breakfast based on all the great reviews. They were right. We really enjoyed it.

The place is very small so we lucked out and got the last inside table when we got there around 10:45. They do have bar seats and a few outside tables as well. The place is decorated with hundreds of car license plates and even the light shades are made from those. Funky vibe to say the least.

We were greeted by Debbie when we came up to the host stand and she was so genuinely nice! Our server was Hannah and she was very nice too.

They have all your traditional breakfast

I only went there for one thing... the Key lime pie that I read was one of the best in the archipelago. It was. We had it for breakfast which made our waitress chuckle. The slices were perfectly tart, with an excellent graham cracker crust, and topped with great whipped cream. One of the top pies of my weeklong trip - and I ate one every day. Mrs. Mac's was beautiful inside, filled with character, and had a line up at opening. The service was great. Next visit I will stay for lunch!

This place was pretty cool! I enjoyed the waiter but they were definitely quickly trying to take care of lots of people. This place was packed! They said a 20 minute wait and we only ended up waiting about 10. I tried the alligator bites with ketchup and loved them! We also tried the conch fritters. They were alright. And I don’t recommend the truffle fries. They were over cooked and had very little garlic or Parmesan on top. But get the gator bites for sure!

Excellent all around. Home of the Key Lime Freeze!! Attentive service and everyone was so friendly. The license plate wall decor gives the place a comfy vibe with plates from all over.
We started with the Conch fritters and so happy we did! We'd never had them ever and they made them so good.
We opted for the seafood basket so we could get a little of everything; it did not disappoint!

It was our stop in Keys before we went back to the main part of Florida. I wanted to have one last Conch fritter, so we stopped here. Their fritter were so good!! I even took them to go as I figure it would be good to eat cold. And I was right! I just can’t get enough of that texture of the conch meat in the fritter. Friendly staff and great food.
