Services
Daniel Ricker started the website ABQ Metro Taxi Service in the summer of 2013, while driving as an independent contractor for Yellow Checker Cab Company of Albuquerque, New Mexico. He was frustrated with good passengers complaining about their difficulty dealing with the central dispatch and phone personnel, and thought it would be better if customers could talk directly to the driver who was going to pick them up.
Fares to all metro area destinations under 50 miles are based on the taxi's meter. Our regular meter rate is $2.95 to hire and $0.26 per tenth of mile ($2.60 per mile). The wait charge is $0.26 for approximately 35 seconds when the taxi is stopped ($27.00 per hour). There is also an additional charge of $1.07 for each passenger beyond the first.

I have used them only two times so far and so far it has been great! They are polite, they come right on time, and the best part, they communicate when they are on their way and send confirmation texts or calls to let me know who is coming. Oh! And they have been great when I need a ride for an early morning shift and Uber,or Lyft are unavailable since I can't drive yet. They are way better than Ztrip who make you wait for hours until they finally find a driver that is willing to pick me up.

I was driving north on I-25 and watched one of their vehicles run the car in front of me off the road by changing lanes, apparently either without looking or without caring. The vehicle didn't wreck, thankfully, since we were going ~85mph at the time. My truck and windshield did get sprayed with gravel. This is terrible for a professional transportation service.

Had a great experience with ABQ Metro Taxi! I'm new to the Albuquerque area and was trying to find a professional taxi service that I could count on to get me to the airport. A lot of the other companies in the area didn't feel trustworthy and when I ended up calling ABQ metro last minute for my early morning flight they came through with flying colors! Definitely calling on their services again!

Rose picked me up exactly on time at my home in Rio Rancho and drove me to the airport quickly and efficiently. She is very professional and nice to talk with. Just took this taxi service to the airport from the SW Valley (now called Giant Taxi). Wonderful driver, Patrick, picked me up on time, texted me 30 mins before pickup, and couldn't have been nicer! And, the rate (meter) was the lowest I have ever paid for the same ride, no extra charges for pickup at residence. Highly recommend!

My sister and I used this cab service for the first time last month during the Balloon Fiesta. We figured that it might be best to ask a cab driver to drive us to the North Gate of the Balloon field because there are so many entrances that it can be confusing to get around, especially for people who haven't driven to the Balloon Fiesta too many times and who don't know their way around too well.

I was abandoned by this taxi service.
I scheduled a taxi for 4:30am two days in advance for a jaunt to the airport. I was told I would receive a text message 20 minutes before pick-up. I never did. I called at about 4:25 to inquire on the status of the cab. I could barely understand the man who answered, but he concluded saying he would check on the status of my cab. I stayed on the line hoping for a status update, but was promptly hung up on. I waited another ten minutes and then called again, several times, but was unable to reach a person or leave a message.

Mike was RIGHT ON TIME. We had actually called another service, and they were 35 minutes late. And we had a plane to catch, so that made us quite nervous. Mike was courteous and was a welcome change after our frustrating phone calls with this other company. I WILL be using ABQ Metro again on my next trip to Albaquerque.

ABQ Metro Taxi is a the fastest, friendliest taxi service you will find in Albuquerque. My driver arrived at my house 20 minutes before the scheduled time, and the drive was fast without any speed bumps. The rates were excellent as well.
