I began my professional career in the trucking industry back in 1965 as a billing clerk for Northern Freight Lines out of Gainesville, GA. I had yet to even graduate high school but needed a job to help out my family. I then moved on to Overnight Transportation from 1967-1968 as an OS&D / billing clerk.
As the Vietnam War grew near, I was drafted into the United States Army and served our great country for the following two years. Once out of the Army, I went to work for a long standing trucking company in Atlanta, GA called Brown Transport Inc. Over the next fourteen years, I worked as the General Manager for the Special Commodities Division which is now commonly known as the Brokerage Division.

Services
Our dry division has expanded to 300 tractors, 80% of them being company owned along with 600, 53 ft. The dry division customer service team is made up of 3 segments: Inbound, Outbound, and Dedicated CSR's. The outbound division is led by Dillon Clay, Tim Kidd, Matt Rylee, Russell Smith, and Devon Hulsey.

At least one of their drivers doesn't care about laws and restrictions on where these Crane Transport tractors park over a long weekend. This unit has been sitting still in DeKalb County for 4 days and counting; on a residential street. I guess the driver is ignorant, doesn't care or really likes to break any laws he/she can as a "professional driver" Good luck with that.

I am blessed to have worked here going on 10 years. Overall, this is the best company that I've ever worked for in my 20 plus years as a CDL driver in the civilian sector. People are people, but if you do your job, you will have a home here at Crane Transport. This a "Driver Friendly" company. The drivers are treated with respect, and the office personal make it a point to know your name. Having been here for going on 10 years, the first thing that I noticed is that the owner remembered my name after my first couple of weeks being here. That spoke volumes to me, and as drivers know, you don't get

I started work at 15. This by far, is the best place I have ever worked at. No place is perfect, but the people here treat me with respect and kindness. They bend over backwards when I have a personal need to help me out- and they don't have to. Pay is pretty good if you like to work. Good miles most weeks depending upon the season-1800 to 3500.
The equipment is great. The trucks are new to 5 years. Alot of the trailers are new and no older than 7 years to best of my knowledge.
The shop personnel are very knowledgeable. When you have a problem with your truck or trailer, you tell to the foreman
