Ghostbird Theatre
Website
So as a bird builds a nest from immediate materials, suited for a particular tree or eave or cliff, we build our site-inspired theatre. We mount plays and shape them to our host venue, whether it's an historical home, a yoga center, or a warehouse. As conceived and designed and produced, our plays are wholly tied to this one location. Our shows take place in the very best houses, and we are so pleased you will join us.
Services
Ghostbird Theatre Company is the only theatre company in the American South fully dedicated to mounting site-specific performances. We write new works or select classic plays with our host venue in mind, designing the play in concert with the venue, its history, its aesthetics, and its mission.

Our shows are very intimate, often immersive, and we try to bring in a full, beautiful experience for our audience: whether its in shadow play, original music and songs, puppetry, cabaret, or dance. Our runs are short and illusive, but you will find our shows precious and memorable: Rare Sightings.
To welcome back all our Ghostbird friends, we are returning to 2012 pricing for this show only. Ricky and Louis, two hapless dockworkers, just before clocking out and calling it a day, while away their time contemplating work, worrying about the bossman, and counting ducks. Like most of us, they are the easiest of marks.
Visual artists, filmmakers, theatre artists, dancers, musicians, and poets race against a 24-hour clock to create unique works based on prompts given by Barry Cavin. Artists of all types and ages are invited to participate. We don't know how creative you can be in 24 hours, but we do know you'll have so much fun you won't even feel the sleep deprivation.
Once upon a time, 400 million years ago, Florida abutted Ireland, Morocco, and Mongolia, near the South Pole. The world, with its molten core, breaths beneath our feet in the deepest of deep time. In our current moment of pandemic and global climate change, our Anthropecene Age, what are we to do but play, and sing, and laugh, and praise?
Our season is supported by grants from the Lee County Tourist Development Council and the City of Fort Myers. Our plays "3" and "Ori" are supported, in part, by grants from the Florida Department of State Division of Cultural Affairs. Ghostbird Theatre Company is a proud member of the Lee County Alliance for the Arts and the Florida Cultural Alliance.
