At the Center For Better Hearing, we closely follow a Family Centered Approach to Hearing Healthcare model where we recognize that hearing loss just doesn't affect the individual but all people associated with that individual. At the Center For Better Hearing, we encourage family members or close friends to participate in the care and treatment of the hearing impaired patient.
In accord with the patient's wishes, we invite you to accompany them for their initial consultation and evaluation, as well as any ongoing office visits for continued hearing aid adjustments and counseling, and we would also encourage you to ask questions concerning any aspects involving the recommendations provided by the healthcare practitioner.

Services
The Center for Better Hearing has been helping people in the East Bay community hear better since 2001. Having dedicated ourselves to serving this neighborhood for so long, we understand and honor the diversity of our community by meeting all who walk through our doors with our core values of honesty, integrity and respect.
More than half of all persons with hearing loss or deafness are 65 years or older. Hearing loss has been associated with dementia and cognitive decline. Don't let hearing loss rob you of living your senior years to the fullest. Come into the Center for Better Hearing and learn how hearing better helps you live better.
It all started with Grandma. Born deaf in one ear, my grandmother worked diligently with the hearing-impaired and deaf communities. She and her girlfriends raised millions for the John Tracy Clinic in Los Angeles, and she served on its board for 40 years.
This famous clinic (http://www.jtc.org/), a world-renowned provider of audiology diagnostics, education and resources for families who have children with hearing loss, gives those children the wonderful services Grandma could have used in her childhood. Thanks to Grandma, I was inspired early on to help the hearing-impaired and deaf.

For decades it was thought that hearing loss was a personal problem that required a personal solution, however, if you live with someone with hearing loss, you are well aware of how one person's hearing impairment can affect the whole household.
The ease of communication between family members with normal hearing is often taken for granted, and therefore feelings of frustration, resentment and even anger, can arise when attempting to communicate with the family member affected by hearing loss.

Knowledgeable, helpful source for hearing aids, with plenty of follow-up as needed over the years. Many friends who have gone to discount sources have never adjusted to wearing their hearing aids and don't get the full benefit of them. From the outset, the Center for Better Hearing explains how to adjust efficiently and effectively. Hearing aids are not like glasses, which you put on and immediately see better. You have to get used to them and your brain needs to get used to interpreting what you are now hearing. I recommend the Center for Better Hearing to everyone I know.

I went to the center for better hearing to test the Opticon hearing aid. I currently have a phonak hearing aid. The audiologist, Eitan Cohen was excellent. He thoroughly explained the differences between my old hearing aid and the Opticon hearing aid. He showed me how to use the new demo hearing aid and download an Opticon app to connect to my iPhone that I can use to control the hearing aid. I have used the center for better hearing for over six years and the people there have always been very good. Now that there are more people on the staff the audiologist can take you right away without having

Really great place! Nice office and nice people. I have so appreciated working with Joanne who really understands hearing loss and how to help someone choose the correct hearing aids. I went to a different location first time and all I got was an intense sales pitch. I experienced none of that here.
Joanne is very patient and answered my many questions. I am still adapting to using hearing aids, but I know if I have any issues or questions, I can seek her out for assistance. I highly recommend this office.

What an awesome experience today at the Center for Better Hearing. My mom’s hearing aid was broken and not many places are open on Saturday. Eitan was able to fix it quickly, and even spent the extra time to clean it and run it through the dehumidifier. My mom said her hearing aid never sounded so good! She’s ready to make another appointment to have Eitan fix her other hearing aid. You just made a new customer. Thanks!
