Rocky Allen has been in the drywall industry for over 35 years, forming his first company in 1977. He has worked in every type of construction environment, beginning his business working out of his garage and truck. In 1988, he and his wife Julie formed Allen Drywall & Associates, Inc. The company employed nearly 15 people and set up offices in Burlingame.
By 1991 they employed over 50 craftsmen and worked throughout the Bay Area, including Marin, Napa, San Francisco, Sonoma and Solano counties. The business continues to grow with the help of our great staff of over 80 employees. There is only one reason for this type of growth: repeat customers satisfied by a great product at competitive prices.

Drywall, sometimes called wallboard or plaster board, is comprised of a core of wet gypsum rock (hydrous calcium sulphate) that is sandwiched between two sheets of heavy paper. After the core sets and dries, the finished product is rigid and sturdy enough for use as a building material. The drywall is applied to walls and ceilings as a preferred finish.
The terminology below describes various levels of finish of gypsum board surfaces prior to the application of specific types of final decoration. The recommended level of finish of gypsum board wall and ceiling surfaces varies with the final decoration to be applied and can also be dependent on their location in a structure and the type of illumination striking the surface.
