The Hickory Tree is led by husband and wife team Meredith & JD Ross. We opened in 2009 and have steadily grown to be the largest furniture consignment store in the Hickory region. Meredith graduated from Appalachian State Univ with a minor in Interior Design, and JD graduated from NC State with a degree in Business.
So together they make the perfect team! At The Hickory Tree we work every day to bring sellers and buyers together to get the most value out of pieces in your home. Opening in the heart of furniture country where quality and name-brand manufacturing has been the norm for years, there was a desperate need for a consignment option.

Services
The Hickory Tree can help you sell anything from a lamp to an entire home full of furniture. We have experience helping sellers through the process of downsizing, redecorating, moving, estate management, and other life changes. Once approved, you can bring in large items anytime. If you aren't able to move large pieces, we offer reasonable Pickup!
We have a team of local craftsmen, furniture painters, movers and upholsterers to help you envision what a piece in our store could be, and make it happen! Sometimes a quality piece of furniture deserves a fresh look with a new finish, fabric, or pop of creativity! A very nice consignment store, well laid out, up and downstairs. Lots of stuff, although all we wanted to see were chairs. Help was available and they were very helpful.
We saw one chair we liked. It would fit our needs, was the acceptable color, material and size...a la my wife's seeking standards. Did we buy it? Of course not. Hickory is loaded with furniture outlets, so off we went a exploring.
A couple of more locations and them the big kaboom: the Hickory Furniture Mart. Another review coming on this enormous, four level block-filling edifice containing just about any manufacturer

The Hickory Tree is my Go-To! I have found so many good buys, high quality, fair pricing, friendly staff and even a delivery service. I recently needed a king upholstered bed but did not want to wait 6 months to order one, and did not want to spend a fortune. I walked into the Hickory Tree and there it was!
I went back a month later and found the perfect nightstands.

After trying to shop for bedroom furniture for weeks, I am SO EXCITED that I finally made it to The Hickory Tree. All of their items were in great condition and seemed to be the perfect mix of trendy and eclectic. If I could have bought out the entire store I would have 😭 I ended up purchasing a desk, chair, small decorative plant and framed print during my last visit and plan on visiting again soon to check out their new items and pricing. This store has quite a bit "in store" for you. There are quite a few interesting pieces. They had several pieces that I was interested in, however already sold. Please go by and pickup your sold items so they can bring in more items for me to check out!

First of all, this is a consignment shop and you should go into the shop with that in mind. It is going to be hit and miss, but when it is a hit, you feel like you've struck gold. I have several pieces in my historic home which I found here at a fraction of what I would have paid elsewhere. I have also sold pieces at Hickory Tree, including pieces I had previously bought. I'm in Hickory Tree at least once a month. This is the best place in the area hands down.

I have been shopping at The Hickory Tree for over 5 years and they continue to "WOW" me! I never leave the store without a purchase:) I love that the inventory changes so often, which is obviously a reflection on the "know how" of the staff there. I love that the store has the knowledge to attract "ever" customer. If you are looking for antiques, mid-century modern, contemporary through traditional, they have it covered! I also love the fact that the staff greets you and they are there to assist you if needed, They do not follow you around or pressure you to buy
