Feeling overwhelmed or pressured to get the design finished is not the state of mind we want you to be in while going through this process! Once we have the Stage 2 Preliminary meeting, if needed we will schedule 1-3 follow-up meetings to get your plan perfect. The only way extra charges will apply is if the client decides to have a major change to the concept during the process such as adding a pool for example.
Ian was great to work with and did an excellent job creating a thoughtful and detailed landscaping design for our place. He is very knowledgeable of plant species and offering creative solutions. I was researching landscape designers/architects for a few months before I was fortunate enough to find Ian Hall.
The initial Consultation starts at $300. There are some areas that are even higher because of distance, such as extremely rural areas. The initial site visit fee may be waived if the design contract is signed at that visit. Yes, there is a $100 same-day cancellation fee. Please notify the office or your designer at least by the day before your appointment if you need to cancel for any reason.

We enjoyed working with Ian on our backyard project. Ian listened to what we wanted to accomplish with drought tolerant plantings and also added a water feature to our plans/thoughts.
Obviously the Covid crisis delayed the project from start to finish, but that wasn't a huge concern given that we weren't going anywhere in a hurry as time has shown.
The new design really picked up the appearance of the yard and has made it more inviting to sit outside and enjoy. Ian is very knowledgeable about plants, irrigation and design, and is a very likeable and easy to get along with. I would

Ian did a wonderful job working with us on our landscape design. He listened to our input and developed a very viable plan witth the "right" plants/trees and flow. Additionally, he spent a day on the property during the construction to specify where different large rocks should go and found free dirt for us from another client. You and your property are in good hands with Ian.

We engaged Ian Hall about 2 months ago to create a master plan for our backyard.
Our yard is currently a disaster and very small. We had a laundry list of desires - waterfall, stream, feet-dipping pools, pergola, fire feature, hardscape, built-in benches, and bocce court. We said we wanted a natural "Sierra Nevada" feel for the water features, but also a contemporary/clean/Japanese vibe for the rest of the yard. It would take someone creative and brilliant

One of the best, if not the best, contractor experience I have ever had has been with Ian.
Both my front and back yards were in bad shape, with the front barely acceptable and the rear yard never properly improved.
When I decided I wanted to launch a major re-landscaping, I quickly realized I had no clue about any of the major decision points.
I interviewed a few landscape architects, none impressed me. Then, through a referral, I was given Ian's name. As soon as I met him I knew I could work with him. When he came back with the preliminary plans, I was blown away with the both his ideas

We purchased a new home in Napa complete with a dirt backyard. Ian listened to our thoughts on landscaping and came up with a design that made our dream backyard come true. I recently worked with Beckie Kover in the Sacramento area to create an outdoor living space for our backyard. Beckie was attentive to my ideas and incorporated them into the overall design while finding ways to complement and improve upon them.She helped take my vision and bring it to life with many other features I didn't consider to create a fantastic plan that I can use to hire the right contractor.
