The Apple Street Market was going to be a full service grocery store located in the former Save-A-Lot building in Northside (4145 Apple St.). Affordable fresh produce, assorted deli items, quality meats, and dairy, and a variety of foods will have been available. This new grocery was going to be a place where everyone felt welcome -owned by its workers and the community.

Apple Street Market was going to eventually be one of a network of neighborhood groceries in low food access areas. It is with a heavy heart that we share this news. So many neighbors and community members took a risk to bring this extraordinary possibility of Apple Street into being. Nothing great comes without risk, this vision for fresh food access for the people and by the people has not come to be.
Services
In the fall of 2013, the only grocery store in Northside Cincinnati (Save-A-Lot), closed its doors leaving the neighborhood in a food desert, upsetting our entire community, not just the impoverished folks who lack cars to drive to the next nearest grocery. Cincinnati itself has 10 fewer stores than the national average, an average already recognized for leaving 24.5 million US residents in food deserts.
Despite the countless hours of work from the community to find a new location for the project, the Board agreed with heavy hearts that there is not a path forward for the cooperative at this time. Although we have been operating with minimal spending, Apple Street Market does have ongoing expenses e.g.
In keeping with our values, we will source the majority of our products from cooperatively owned businesses and local businesses. Associated Wholesale Grocers, Inc. (AWG) is the nation's largest cooperative food wholesaler to independently owned supermarkets, serving over 3,800 locations in 30 states and from 11 full-line wholesale Divisions.

Love this store the employees are super friendly! And really really helpful and enjoy helping customers out with any questions! Their great even made a bunch of juice for me when they were out and might not have been making more that day and I didn't even have to request it they just made it and asked me if I'd like to be called on microphone for my name when it was ready, God bless them all and thank you for always having a good experience going into their stores love it great place!

Angelica at the deli counter was professional, smart, and could field my questions for autoimmune disease/food allergies. Looking forward to shopping there.

I love Willy St Co-op. I enjoy every part of the store, from the juice bar to the goat cheeses, and from the veggies to the Herbal Medicine. It's the best place for healthy foods!

Best produce in Madison after the farmers market. I can't say that anything in the store is unhealthy. Great selection of skin care products and supplements. Not to mention the root and herbal section.

We have Coffee at Willy Street Co-Op every day at 4pm. My Husband is British so its tea time. We haven't seen any Tea House's in Madison and your Coffee is very good so we make due. Our only problem is, why do all the Coffee House's in Madison close at 3:00? The Coffee culture is strong in California! Here not so much. Thanks for the good Coffee!

Vast arrary of products, this store is filled from top to bottom. Every aisle is carefully planned to utilize optimal shelf space.
You need not be a member to shop here, and the staff is very helpful and friendly.
The outdoor seating area is relaxing and quaint. I loved their outdoor wood barrel floral plantings!
