Bernie Pane is co-owner and President of First Legacy Group Title & Abstract, LLC. Mr. Pane started First Legacy in 2005 and has been a title industry professional since 1991 having served in a number of sales and title officer capacities. The ten person full time staff at First Legacy has many years of experience in the title profession.
Serving the residential purchase and refinance market, we work closely with attorneys and lenders to clear title for closing. Through our in-house settlement and escrow company AFRM Title Agency, we offer fully TILA-RESPA (TRID) compliant settlement and closing services. AFMM Title is an approved settlement company by virtually all major and secondary mortgage lenders.
Commercial purchase and refinance title transactions require an experienced and knowledgeable title agency to work with lenders counsel to meet specific title requirements unique to various commercial properties. From strip malls, office buildings, industrial complexes, apartment buildings and mixed use properties, our agency has issued title policies for developers, corporations, banking institutions and private equity lenders.
Since title agencies are regulated, aren't the fees charged all the same? Not exactly. While title insurance premiums and related search costs are set by New Jersey State statue, some title agencies charge for unnecessary policy endorsements and search fees. I always seem to wait many months to receive the final title policy from my current agency even when there are no open post-closing issues.
