Dr. Gerald T. Shinkawa is proud to have his son and daughter follow in his footsteps as a dentist, and he is even prouder to be able to work alongside them as they help Fresno patients protect and restore their smiles. Our dentists have a combined 40 years of experience, and they're dedicated to providing the best patient-centered services possible at all times.
For well over 40 years, Dr. Gerry has looked forward to getting up each morning, heading into the dental office, and warmly greeting his first dental patient of the day. He knows it may sound cliche, but he truly loves what he does and all of the people he works with! Plus, he's had an even bigger smile on his face ever since his son Dr. Adam and his daughter Dr. Nicole joined him.
With nearly five years in the dental world so far, Dr. Adam couldn't be prouder to work alongside his father and sister here at Shinkawa Dental. What he loves most about this job is getting to create long-lasting relationships with patients and the people around him. His ultimate goal is to leave everyone he meets in life with a smile!

Omg… I don’t even know where to start! I had gone to 2 other dentist office before going to Shinkawa Dental and neither of them was giving me the care I was needing. The last dentist I went to barely even touched my mouth (recently got braces 😬). I get that it’s more work for the hygienist but still…you have to do what the patient is there for… a cleaning. Anyways… I began looking else where. I came across this amazing place and was like I will give them a call. Veronica was the first person I spoke to. She sent me all the forms I needed to fill out and my insurance information.

Dr. Shinkawa and the staff are amazing. They are friendly and professional and make you feel comfortable. I've had numerous procedures done from fillings to root canals in this office, and I can say it's always been a painless and comfortable experience. I've also had tooth pain in the middle of the night one time, and the doctor was available on call and they squeezed me in first thing in the morning. It's a family run business, and they treat you that way. Highly recommend them.

I was looking for a Dentist after my probation period with Western Dental was over, my wife recommended Dr Shinkawa and Family. Took a chance and haven't looked back since. Shinkawa Dental is such a great place! The new office is always extremely clean as well as the old location. The staff is very friendly and they treat you like you’re family. I am currently doing Invisalign through Shinkawa Dental and so far I have been very satisfied with the technology and the process. This is a place where you do not have to fear the dentist, plus they won’t scold you if you haven’t flossed. Would highly recommend if you’re in the market for a new dentist. It’s a great family owned practice that will leave you smiling.

What a great office, great friendly people and a very knowledgeable dentist. One of the most important things to me was the positivity of Dr. Nichole. Because my child tries very hard to keep up her dental hygiene, but sometimes with crowded teeth and tight spacing the cavities are inevitable, so we really appreciate the positivity from Dr. Nicole.

Shinkawa Dental is awesome! Their new office is really very nice and a wonderful upgrade from their previous office, very warm and inviting. The location is also incredibly convenient!
The staff is friendly and caring. You are treated like family by everyone! The Shinkawa's make a trip to the dentist a pleasant experience.

Their new office is absolutely stunning! Everything is so clean and put together, I love it. The staff is amazing- from the first time you walk in, meeting Veronica and Sandra with a big smile on their face to coming into the back with their amazing assistant Araceli. She was so good and gentle with my son. And of course the doctors are all amazing! I absolutely love their practice and plan on staying there for all my sons’ dental needs😍

I have been holding off I'm going to the Dennis for years because of traumatic experiences before. I've been one who doesn't like pain or needles which is where most of the phobia came from. Dr. Nicole was helping me today but her brother and father also stepped in to introduce themselves. I just needed a cleaning today, but since it was my first time there, I also got X-rays done as well. Dr. Nicole took awesome care of my teeth and was very gentle

I started going to Shinkawa Dental decades ago on the recommendation of a friend who promised me that Gerald wouldn't cause me any pain when he did dental work. It's true, he's very careful and conscientious about his work. He was my children's first dentist as well, and they never developed a fear of dental work. Now his own kids are working with him and so things are getting updated a bit, but it's still the same great place to get dental care. Lots of care and good humor.

It had been a year since I had been to Shinkawa Dental. Because of Covid and me being in the high risk grouping, I did not feel comfortable going anywhere. I have now received my second dose of the vaccine and am ready. I called the office and spoke to Veronica. She was able to get me in the next day!! I am now able to get back on my regular appointment schedule!! Dr. Gerry as always makes me feel comfortable. Thank you for the fabulous service!! I will be back!!

I adore this place. Shinkawa Dental is a no judgments zone. I'm uninsured and they were able to accommodate me. I would also recommend getting their dental saving plan too if you don't have insurance. The best health investment I have made so far for myself. I have only been to one other dentistry my entire life and the care they offer can not beat one of the visits I have had with Shinkawa Dental.

Moving to Fresno, I was extremely apprehensive about finding a new dentist so I held it off for a very long while, over 3 years, yikes! To my surprise, the Shinkawas were so thorough in my initial examination that I felt entirely at ease,,, enough to finally let go of my previous dentist (distance was the factor). I completely recommend.
