Erik Mollegaard has been the owner of DJ's Hair Designs, Inc. for 20 years, and he's been a hair stylist and designer in Menlo Park for over 30 years. Originally from Denmark, Eric attended the Academy of Cosmetology in Copenhagen for 4 years, and immigrated to the US shortly after completing his studies there.

Diana Dao has over 20 years of experience as a hair stylist and designer. She spent 18 years at Hair International in Stanford Shopping Center, where she was a Technical Director Stylist. She attended cosmetology school in San Jose, California and worked in San Jose for two years before her employment at Hair International.
Her specialties include layering, blond highlights and low-lights to break up gray, long hair layering, color, eyebrow threading and shaping, and men's and boys hair cuts. She's also an expert at hair straightening using the Keratin/Agave Brazilian blow-out technique. Lida takes great joy in creating something new and beautiful, but with a keen eye to what will make her clients look and feel their very best.
Located in downtown Menlo Park, we have rental space available for serious, dedicated hair stylists and designers. DJs is a very comfortable working atmosphere-no drama, reasonable rental rates, great parking and a wonderful clientele. And, you can even work on commission, if that's your preference.

This will be a review about the salon, but I have to thank Ms. Gina for always taking so much care to bring my vision to fruition. My whole family has followed her since the days of Hair Shapers at Town and Country in Palo Alto. She is such a hard worker and makes sure her customers are happy. I have been dying to get a haircut and I knew exactly where I was going as soon as it was safe to do so.

Amidst the pandemonium of the "shelter in place" I tried to rush in to get my hair cut - it was already long overdue and I was worried about going for another three weeks without the opportunity to have it trimmed.
Although I got there late and they were technically closing, Mary (the last person left) called another stylist to cut my hair. The other stylist drove from Sunnyvale especially to help me. Absolutely amazing service and very friendly people. I cannot recomendo this place enough.

I've come to Debbie a couple times now to get my hair coloured and it's turned out so great! Her attention to detail was amazing and made sure my hair wasn't a mess after all that bleaching and dyeing! I'm so glad i found her, since i've had a some experiences in other salons where the stylist didn't know what they were doing lol As long as i'm in this area i'll keep going to her for my hair for sure.

I came here to see Debra "Debbie" Dias, and I'm absolutely thrilled to have taken the chance here. I needed to get a wash, blow dry and flat iron for New Year's Eve and I called the day before to set up an appointment. Was able to get in for a late morning, which was perfect as I'm definitely not an early morning person!
The salon is spacious and comfy, and are pretty standard as far as the seat style, mirrors and lighting go. You do not need to feel like your personal bubble is intruded on by the other clients. I think my one wish was that the hair washing stations change

This review is for Lida Z, she was my stylist at Hair International at Stanford Mall years ago, and when she moved to DJ, of course, I had to follow! Lida always does an AMAZING job on my hair. Throughout the years, I've tried various styles: textured bob, long bob with side bangs, asymmetrical bob, long hair with long layers, AND I've been very happy with all the styles. Lida is really good at listening to me when I want to try something new and gives her professional opinion. DJ's is ok; it would be much much better if indoor temperature was moderated on hot days--run the air and make everyone much happier when it's warm out! You'd be best off cancelling your appointment on hot days unless this gets addressed. But otherwise, stylists seem to like their work and their customers, easy vibe, clean and centrally located with adequate parking.

Beware of this RUDE lady!!! Just because I don't dress nice and get my hair done in this place you would act like that? ( Erik the owner is really nice and friendly, I just can't believe this lady is ruining that image.) Anyway I was pushing my disabled patient on her wheelchair when I accidentally forgot to close the door, well of course I will prioritize my patient on the wheelchair instead of the door. The second time I went out to get something I forgot to close the door again, well I was gonna come back to close it but this lady came by the door, started yelling and shouting ( HEY

I've been going to for about six years now. I never thought to put this up on yelp, but Gina made a special appointment for me on a Sunday morning the day of my Son's Wedding.
I can't thank her enough for first of all always fitting get me into her busy schedule, but she really went out of her way to work on Sunday for me.
I love my hair cuts and she is just always so nice.
If you are worried about going to someone new for a hair cut you needn't worry with Gina.
She always listens to how you would like your hair and cuts it just right.
I plan on keeping her for my hair

I've been going to see Nimba here for almost a year and she is the best hair stylist I've had. She takes her time and pays great attention to detail during each cut. She focuses completely on you during each appointment and I recommend her very highly. She even texted me merry Christmas last month! Nimba is a kind professional and she deserves five stars.

I have been going to Annie Chan for a quite a number of years now! I highly recommend going to her, because she knows what you want. She will do her very best job to make you happy. She's very easy to keep in touch with, she's a hard working. She talks so fondly of her family & she has the cutest smile! How could you not love her? DJs moved around the corner but Lida is still there, working her magic with hair and brows. Now not only will I drive from Cupertino to have Lida cut my hair and do my threading but my daughter is planning to wait til she comes home from NY to get her hair cut by Lida rather than have her hair cut by someone else. She's the best--she listens and makes suggestions based on her client's lifestyle and personality not just trends.

I moved to the bay area 3 years ago and been hopping hair salons following yelp reviews since. I finally found the right place at DJ's hair design with Gina Hampton! Gina was initially referred to us by a close friend for my husbands hair. He's been going to Gina for years. One day I finally decided to give her a try. I have long thick curly hair and I'm very picky with who works on it, lol! Gina is such a sweet person and very detailed with her work. Her prices are reasonable and she does an excellent job with cut, color & style!

People getting textured bobs: I would not recommend this place because their traditional cutting style does not achieve the current textured bob look.
Got a hair cut here about a month ago. The haircut turned out OK, but was not what I asked for. I had beautifully textured haircut from Bumble and Bumble in New York. When I went in, my hair was about two inches past my shoulders, apparently this is considered long hair and was $5 extra. Ok...

Lida Z has been cutting my hair for years now (5+) and she recently moved to DJ's from Hair International. I just recently discovered that she does threading as well, so now I get to see her more often! Lida does a fantastic job on my coarse, curly hair and is a fantastic conversationalist, to boot.

Mary was very helpful and sweet. I am new to the area and got lost on the way, and she was understanding and helpful. Her attitude during the cut was super welcoming, and she offered to wash before and after.
That said, $45 for a men's cut is, frankly, ridiculous. I paid $20 for two washes, a cut, style, and mini massage at a Robert Cromeans salon for the past 8 months. I expected less service and a higher price, but that difference is insane.
