In the fall of that year, she opened her private practice in Des Moines. Before acupuncture school, she graduated from Iowa Methodist School of Nursing in 1996, and maintains an active Registered Nurse (RN) license. In 2001, Katherine joined the Des Moines VA and has the distinct privilege of being the first Licensed Acupuncturist in the nation to provide acupuncture at a Veterans Hospital, specializing in Pain Management.

I was always curious about acupuncture but did not have an identifiable reason to go until a couple years ago. I tried it out and was hooked. Katie and Brendan are both awesome - I come on a regular basis for whatever is troubling me and always leave feeling better than when I arrived. I have also recommended it to others and they have been very pleased as well. I highly recommend giving it a try.

Both Katie and Brendan are top notch. Not only are they both extremely educated; they take a lot of time with their patients to gain an understanding of the “ complete” picture. From their soothing, tranquil, clean, and beautiful practice to the feeling of peace and grounding when you walk out the door; this place and experience is second to none. There is no one else I would ever recommend for acupuncture and Chinese medicine than these two. Superb!!!!!

I started seeing Katie in 2004 for a spinal injury. Her knowledge of Western and Eastern medicine got me in the door but her passion of caring for her patients and wanting them to heal has kept me coming back through the years. She’s treated me for too many surgeries to list but I started at not being able to sit for an hour due to chronic pain to running half marathons. She’s inspired me and kept me healthy on my journey. She’ll suggest the appropriate Chinese herbs for whatever state my body is going through at the time. I admire her greatly for her in-depth knowledge, empathetic listening

Katherine and Brendan have created a little slice of heaven with their practice, Center for Acupuncture and Healing Arts. On the advise of an in-the-know friend, I started going to Brendan two or three years ago for shoulder injuries. He's very kind and gifted and he helped me heal. And now I consistently go for my overall health and to benefit my immune system as well to help reduce stress. Having been to both western and eastern trained acupuncturists before, these two are the real deal. Their pricing is reasonable, too, and it's covered by my Flex dollars. If you want to feel better, have acupuncture at this center! I have been a steady customer there for 15 years. Kathryn has gotten me through serious neurological problems, after surgery for a tumor in my ear canal. I credit her treatments for improving intense pain in my back and knees, and for my general health and overall feeling better. She has the best practical advice of any health practitioner I have known in my 77 years. I had a friend recommend Katherine and am very grateful that I found her. I had never done acupuncture and really like it. It's helped my allergies and I feel more relaxed after an appointment than after going for a 90 minute massage. For those that have never tried it, I highly recommend it and Katherine in particular. She's very good at explaining everything and taking time to listen to ensure she provides the best treatment possible.

Simply the BEST!! Katherine is amazing. Don't waste your time going anywhere else in the Des Moines area. They are so educated and trained and are such professionals. I wasn't sure what I thought about acupuncture until I started treatment with Katherine. The results were amazing. I'm a complete believer now. Seriously if you are interested in finding the perfect acupuncture office this is the place for you
