It's hard for working people to make ends meet these days. Even dual-income families find themselves in uncomfortable situations and in need of assistance from bankruptcy courts. Not being able to pay your bills can be disheartening. And the situation is only made worse by relentless harassment from creditors and threats of lawsuits and wage garnishment.
Being in a position where filing for bankruptcy is one's only option for debt relief is something that no one ever plans for. Depending on your circumstances, living under mountains of debt may feel as though it snuck up on you, and perhaps that continuing to spend is the only way to continue providing for your family.
Facing large amounts of debts is extremely stressful, nerve-wracking, and often embarrassing and shameful. For many, debt sneaks up on them-people may be experiencing financial hardship as a result of medical bills, student loans, an unexpected emergency, the loss of a job, or numerous other circumstances that are out of their control.
Facing financial hardship can be stressful and overwhelming. It can leave a person feeling hopeless about their financial future, afraid of what might happen if they continue to leave bills unpaid, worried about their ability to keep food on the table and a roof over their head, and anxious and on edge every time the phone rings.

I am totally disabled and bill collectors are ruthless. I spent 2 hours in the attorney office and the collectors can't threaten me no more.
