Estanislao ("Lao") Roman has been preparing Mexican cuisine since a child working in his father's kitchen. Lao was a chef of a top Mexican restaurant in Atlanta in the late 80's and 90's, but moved to Greenwood in 1998 to open Santa Fe. For over 14 years, the Roman family has been serving Greenwood's finest Mexican food with exciting dishes and unique ambiance.
Today, Lao and his family manage Santa Fe. Lao's father and mother still work in the restaurant, along with his wife, Alicia, and only son, David, along with his wife, Sandra. All foods are prepared fresh daily. Lao arrives early to cut vegetables and start a new pot of broth. He peels fresh avocados for their house-made guacamole and chops tomatoes for his special salsa.

We have dined in at the restaurant on several occasions and it is satisfactory. However, we have ordered take out and on more than one occasion gotten home to find things missing that we paid for. We will never visit this restaurant again. When my friend told them they left something out of our order the day before they told her to prove it and ended up yelling at her. A simple I'm sorry would have gone a long way. We ate there once a week to the tune of at least $60 --- any recommendations.for another Greenwood Mexican restaurant that appreciates their customers?!

My former co-workers (5 of us) like to try old favorites and new restaurants around Greenwood. It's been a while since I had been to Santa Fe. I ordered fajitas, my favorite from the past. I was quite disappointed with the product. Although I received lots of meat, it was like thin strings of precooked meat, more like stir-fry meat with mushy bell pepper and onions. Neither did it have that Tex Mex fajita flavor.. I remember that it used to arrive at the table sizzling, with that fajita aroma with fat strips of meat and grilled onions and bell pepper. The refried beans, guacamole, and rice were

I placed an order online that was greater than $50 and was disappointed that one of the many meals was incorrect. I contacted the store and spoke with several staff members that claimed to be the owner. The staff was rude and accusatory that we were lying. They also refused to make it right. I hate it for the waitress there because she has been excellent each time that we have visited and ate in the restaurant. The kids were excited to know until this experience that we thought we had located a new favorite restaurant with good service in town. However, after this experience that included rudeness

This was my 3rd visit. Found them very unaccommodating. In the middle of COVID, had patio closed and would not let me sit there. I had ordered Quesadilla. Theirs come as full tortilla folded in half. I asked if they could cut like in most other restaurants, but they would not. Spoke to manger, but she had policy as excuse.

My first visit here & I was pleasantly overwhelmed. The food servings were HUGE. My chicken quesadilla was piled high with fresh chicken breast & very flavorful. The lunch special plates were piled high with food as well. Fresh hot tortilla strips to start the meal & great service as well. We will definitely be coming back!

My wife ordered a steak dish and said it didn't have any flavor and she left about 50% of it because of all the fat and gristle. I had the Mexico Loco, the jalapeno poppers were not hot at all, barely warm. That was my first clue, as my beans and rice were room temperature with cold spots in between bites. My chimichanga was warm on one end and by the time I was finishing it, the other end was stone cold. It was like they heated the plate up in a microwave that did not get everything heated. Then my plate must have been set aside while waiting for my wife's steak to finish. I could not finish my
