Located just 20 minutes from Pittsburgh's Cultural District on the Shady Side Academy Senior School campus in Fox Chapel, the Hillman Center for Performing Arts is one of Western Pennsylvania's newest artistic venues. At the Hillman Center for Performing Arts, sharing our resources with the community is fundamental to our mission. We believe strongly in taking good care of those around us, and they, in turn, have taken care of us. It is our true pleasure to work with so many kind people from various institutions in Pittsburgh.
The Hillman Center for Performing Arts is home to our professional performing arts series, community performances, student productions and more! The Hillman Performing Arts Series made its debut in 2005. This series offers an opportunity for our audience to see world-class professional performers on the main stage of the Richard E. Rauh Theater or in the more intimate black box of the Peter J. Kountz Theater.
Whether they go on to become performers or patrons of the arts, Shady Side Academy students gain an appreciation for the beauty, freedom of expression, and diversity that the performing arts celebrate. The Hillman Center serves as the primary performing arts classroom for SSA Senior School students in grades 9-12, and as a performance venue for students in grades PK-12.
At its most fundamental level, the Hillman Center for Performing Arts is a community arts center. Students are here all day, and at night the halls are filled with community members, either attending a professional performance or staging one of their own. Let us be your new home for cultural festivals, film screenings, dance recitals, original works or exhibits.
The Hillman Center for Performing Arts is committed to making our facility available to those with disabilities. Please note that only Rows F and V are fully accessible via wheelchair and require no stairs. All other rows require a minimum of 1-2 stairs.
