In 2011, Kristin Nell and her husband, Bob Nell, purchased Mequon Ace Hardware. Kristin had already worked at the store since 1998 and worked her way up to becoming the owner!

Great service thanks to David and other staff. I can always count on Ace in Mequon to answer any questions I might have and everyone is always very helpful. David assisted me with removing a broken wire connection and replaced it with a new connection is less than 5 minutes. Impeccable service and attitude!

While they may not have the selection of items--especially larger ones--that a Home Depot or Lowe's boasts, those big box stores can never compete with your local Ace store in terms of customer service.
As soon as you walk in, there is a person happy to direct you to the exact aisle containing the items you desire. No roaming the aisles to find a surly employee here!
We stopped here for some Yeti accoutrement and were successful in that regard as well, even purchasing another water bottle that we definitely don't need in the process!

Something flew off a truck and shattered my sunroof. I had no idea what to do but knew I needed it to be covered to protect it from rain.
For only $20.00 a worker cut the Plexiglas and taped it down for me. He removed as much broken glass as he could. All while I waited inside. It was really cold out and we were expecting freezing rain later that day.
I am so grateful for his help!!

An excellent shopping experience, hard to find this level of genuine customer service these days. The great sales brought us in, we found several unexpected great deals on high quality items (Yeti, Big Green Egg, and bought an extra Pack-it lunchbox for the kiddos). They were super helpful but left us browse and didn't bug us whenever we said we're ok. They helped us stack our bags of birdseed by the checkout, gushed over our cute baby, and two employees helped us carry our purchases to the car. Oh, and free warm freshly popped caramel popcorn. We have definitely found our new go-to hardware

At this location, I have encountered a few gentlemen that provide helpful directions and really know their stuff. Today at 4pm, I had a bad experience in the Ace parking lot when a young male Ace employee drove a truck into the parking lot way too fast and headed for me. Employees should treat customers with respect even if they aren't in the store yet and drive with extra caution in the Ace parking lot so as not to endanger their valued customers, especially on a day like today when there was a lot of foot and car traffic. Come on.... a few months ago I needed gold spray paint. Called to verify they had it stocked. They did. Without asking or talking to staff, I was just standing in the aisle comparing the 2 metallic gold options, trying to decide if one of them would actually look metallic.... and the person who answered my call approached me and handed me a sample of each color. He had already tried the 2 options. Just excellent, superb customer service.

We had to build an enclosure for an aging pet and Ace went above and beyond to help us. From the first steps in the door, I was greeted with friendly service. Not only did they understand exactly what we were were trying to accomplish, but they helped me design it and pulled each part for us. They were also clear to explain which options would be more expensive and loaded everything in the car. Just a great experience overall and exactly what we needed.

I love this store. It's small, but it packs in a ton of merchandise! The prices are fair and there are always a lot of people to help you. They've even gone out of their way to match a long-retired Ace 7* Paint color for me. (Toasted Marshmallow) It's easy to get to and the parking is right upfront. I was not a huge fan of the store when we first moved here in '99 and used to drive to Ozaukee Ace or Home Depot in Grafton instead which was a hassle. I am a DIY as much as possible and frequent Home Depot & Menard's on a regular basis.
Though, you get what you pay for and if you have any question more than "what aisle is such & such in?" you are pretty much out of luck.
I stopped in on Sunday with some questions/needing help which is why I bypassed HD & M and went straight to Mequon Ace. Even though there was a steady stream of traffic/customers, Dan was over the top helpful and patient in helping me out and answering my questions. Not once had to "go help someone else or just point in the general direction
