Services
Chinese herbs were not as accessible back in the 1980's as they are nowadays. With Malik coming back from another year of study in China in 1987, a space for medicinal herbs to assist his patients in their healing was the need. When a small space next to his clinic became available, carpenters, friends, and the community showed up to hammer out the beginnings of the Dragon's Den Herb Shop.
Our Dragon's Den Products are well-known throughout the Maui community are what keeps our customers coming back. Our most popular products, the Dragon's Den Green Drink and Superfood Blend, are gentle enough for everyday use and blend well in water, juices, smoothies, and alternative milks like almond or coconut milk.

Do you know what resin incense is? Neither did I! The lovely Christina did, and she even explained how to use real charcoal (wood, not that junk in the stores) as the method of emission. This place is super cool. It would take me five different stores to get this kind of selection. Check it out! What did I get? Well I needed some herbal mugwort liquid for sleep (which by the way is actually really difficult to find) -- Christina helped me get some loose that I could infuse in water (sort of like an intense, bitter tea).

This is an amazing store. Before you think about wasting your money on the various bagged “organic” teas in Whole Foods, supermarkets etc...let alone the huge array of other spices and herbal remedies they have (we bought real nutmeg the kind you have to break open and grate not in a jar)...please visit this local Maui business! Recently got some amazing loose green tea which I have been enjoying. They actually have a lot of other remedies they offer and are knowledgeable so go ahead an ask ! Mahalo Dragon’s Den

The Dragons Den, located mysteriously enough in the Dragons Court, at Baldwin and Makawao Avenues - or Kapakalua Rd, depending on which way you turn, such as a dragon might - twist its way through the winding upcountry head-in-the-sky cloudview vista scenescape of paniolo rainbow country ya cousin. With the Chinese herbal remedies all lined up for your various use, such as ginseng tonic and immune system tea on tap - depending on the day. But either way, lemons if available are 30 cents in the box out front - and those are good energy alone, wedged, or mixed with a sweetener. All I'm saying is

Once in awhile I'll stop in to see what may be "calling me". If you have questions, they'll help you. From ailments to crystals, they'll help you.
They have a lot of holistic findings here. From crystals, incense, herbal teas, natural remedies, etc.
Prices reasonable (to me)...I got a huge white sage stick for $10....elsewhere it would be almost twice as more.
And if you're wondering what "called me" this trip...I was immediately drawn to a tigers eye gem...

Omg love this little hole in the wall vitamin shop. There is the nicest most adorable and helpful girl that works there. I think her name is Jenny. I'm not sure if that's how you spell it. But after going to several corporate chain vitamin stores and not looking for what I needed I found it here! YAY.

Found this place a few years ago while visiting Maui. I had woke up with an eye infection and didn't feel like sitting in urgent care for 3 hours so we just went about our day. We stopped in Makawao for lunch and saw the Dragons Den, I walked in thinking maybe they could offer some relief with this eye infection. They were SO helpful and i walked out of there spending $18 for some drops and a eye shaped shot glass. I put the drops in the shot glass and blinked for a couple minutes twice a day. This not only cured my infection but it improved my vision! Visiting again recently they happily

Knowledgeable staff, but beware unsolicited advice and moralistic judgments about your lifestyle.
For example, I went in looking for a specific adrenal supplement that they unfortunately didn't have, so in response I was given an alternative recommendation that I politely declined. Although I expressed appreciation for his recommendation, he continued to press on with his unsolicited advice about my lifestyle until I told him matter-of-factly that I didn't need any advice. However, as he walked away from me, he uttered to me in a completely presumptuous and patronizing tone of voice

Very knowledgeable staff and an amazing selection of herbs, supplements, vitamins, and holistic remedies. I have been going there for the past 10 years, and am always surprised by what they keep in stock.
The owner Malik Cotter has been practicing for over 30 years, and was trained in China. He really knows his stuff when it comes to Chinese medicine, cleanses, and just about everything else. Highly recommended.

Total Quacks!!! Tried to sell us expensive oil to expel gallstones. Did some research and found out its been proven not to work. The woman working there was pompous and self righteous, even though it was obvious she was making stuff up. Do some research! If they try to sell you "x", google does "x" really work? Chances are it doesnt!

Dragon's Den is a lovely little herb shop tucked on a side alley in Makawao. Has heaps of organic and rare herbal formulas for wellness. They have GREAT customer service and often when you drop in you may receive a free consultation by one of the several specialty practitioners. There's also lots of cool things like books, crystals, cards, gifts and an awesome poster board with the latest happenings in the community.
