A bicycle is many things, a mode of transportation, an adventure mobile, the key to a healthy lifestyle, but without food, you're going nowhere. So in addition to being a full-service bike shop, we are offering a hand-picked selection of healthy pantry staples, local produce, dairy, and spirits.
We're not trying to be just another bike shop. We started out to be a resource for riders of all kinds. We strive to work with brands that not only make great products but are also a great value. We specialize in versatile bikes over those that focus on a niche. We choose models that are best suited for the amazingly diverse riding experiences Richmond has to offer.
Looking for a more esoteric bike? Stock builds just not doing it for you? We offer custom builds on a variety of frames from Marin, Norco, Niner, Surly, All-City, Velo Orange, Soma, Twin Six, Endpoint and more. We can also work with you to customize a stock build to best suit your needs. Customization comes at a price but for those who know exactly what they want, we can make it happen.
The ultimate upgrade for the year-round rider. Dynamo systems convert a tiny portion of the rider's energy through a special wheel to power the perfectly designed headlight, taillight, or even a USB style charging device to power anything from a GPS to a smartphone. Each wheel is hand built in-house with rim, hub, and spokes carefully selected for the specific needs of each bike.

Moved to town in May and found myself needing some repair assistance on my bottom bracket. I brought my bike in, and in making the repair, the Outpost folks identified another major issue. They reached out and sorted through all of the warranty work, sourcing a new crankset from the manufacturer. They kept me posted the whole way through the process, completed the warranty repairs, and got the bike back working great, coming up with a great solution to the original repair as well!

If I could give 10 stars I would! I drove from DC to buy a bike that I knew was in stock at Outpost. Everyone I interacted with was so kind and shared my enthusiasm for getting a new bike! I worked with Charlotte who didn't hesitate to make all the adjustments I needed to test ride my bike. They gave me great tips for local riding and had a huge selection of beers in store.
Also, as a bike riding lady I've had countless experiences in bike shops where male employees talk at me/down to me about my bike/bike maintenance. It was so refreshing to walk in to a bike shop with a mostly female presenting

Great bike shop and market. The team here is cool as a fan. They’ve done a number of repairs and significant upgrades to my mountain bike. And we purchased a great bike for my wife here recently. All world-class experiences.
Specific shout out to Simon for his recent help in upgrading my fork and front wheel. It’s like I’ve got a brand new bike. He spent a lot of time walking me through my options. He didn’t pressure me at all, he took his time with me, and seemed to genuinely want to help.
And they carry Isastegi cider, which is a huge bonus.

This place is SERIOUSLY cool! Half bike shop, half market?! And just a few blocks from the Nickel Bridge, perfect place to take a break after a good few miles in the saddle, grab a beer, a spare inner tube, or even buy one of the many cool bikes they have for sale! We love coming here part way through long rides through town, check them out!

I love this place. Had some wheels and frame work done here. Have purchased parts and beer...and bread flour? :) Braden actually answers emails and is very helpful when consulting on builds (huzzah you'd think most of the other bike shops in the city were tech illiterate) and actually acts like he wants my business unlike some of my experiences with CBC and Coqui. Seriously why do so many bike shops treat you like youre just a pleeb? Between Outpost and Agees theres almost no reason for me to order anything bike related online unless its a specialty item. We in Richmond are so lucky to have a resource like Outpost in our city. The products, service, staff and bike mechanics are the best. I purchase my bike related equipment there and have had them service my bike. Recently a tire failed that I had purchased from them within the past year and without any hassle they replaced it with a new one. No questions asked. Everyone is friendly and professional. I could not recommend another bike shop (and convenience store) that's better here in Richmond. Thanks Outpost for being in Westover Hills / RVA.

I don't usually review establishments unless they are above and beyond (one way or the other) and outpost Richmond fits that bill. This establishment is by far the best and most helpful bike shop in Richmond for service, expertise, and friendly group mountain bike rides. We were helped by Simone (apologies if I am misspelling) but all of the staff were very friendly. When shopping for a new mountain bike, he outlined all of the features, pros, cons, and even took us on an amazing ride which helped identify our specific needs as mountain bikers. This will be my one and only bike shop here in

Our neighborhood snack and beverage stop. I'm currently not riding my bicycle but when I'm back on two wheels this will surely be my go to place for tune ups and gear. Back to the beverage and snacks: great selection, better than most. Prices are fair and service is good. Thanks for keeping FHA in beer and wine!

Outpost rocks. Bike shop + convenient grocery pick up stop with friendly employees. We stop here often for craft beer and Nightingale ice cream sandwiches. They have a lot of local food and beverage products. Even some produce. There are parking spaces right out front, they have a loyalty program w/ perks, sometimes they have wine tastings or Nate's Bagels in the store. They also have a section in the front of local gifts if you need to stop in to pick up a nice present. Can't say enough good things. Glad to have Outpost in the neighborhood.
