I brought my Prius to get lifted with a kit. Owner agreed to do it, to his credit. To be fair, he did the job well. Cons- misquoted hourly rate, charges for longer time than expected, extras for shop "supplies". Instead of $300-400 for labor I was charged with $600. Also, I felt uncomfortable when he took several phone calls before talking to me, and when he tried to commit to specifics- labor hours, price.
I was wondering, is it because I am a woman?

These folks are the best! They do whatever they can to make sure your entire car is okay. Even dealing with hurricane Ida was less stressful because they helped us out. Would definitely recommend bringing your car here!

Flat out rude people here, both the owner and his office receptionist. On paperwork they misreported error codes car was giving. I was sure they were wrong and receptionist was sassy and blew me off and wouldn't confirm or have anyone double check. I had someone else with a phone app come in to confirm they were not reporting the correct codes. I was right, they weren't but after they didn't even apologize. They just said, "oh, that was a mistake." Yea, I know. You should have listened when I told you that and not force me to come in to prove it." In addition to the

Uptown Auto repaired my sunroof drain tubes and blinker control arm well. I am giving only 4 stars for two reasons. The first reason being that they are definitely on the higher end of the price spectrum for the services they provide ($120/hr labor rate). The second reason is because when on the phone giving me a quote and I pushed back on the price for one he admitted to have not having even looked at that part before quoting the price.
If your looking to get it done 100% correct and don't mind paying this is a good shop for you.

I rated 1 star because "no stars" is not an option. My truck was in this shop for days. I was told they could not find what was wrong with it after 2 diagnostic test. I was assured that it was not the starter or alternator because according to the representative that would have been easy to diagnose. Eventually, I was told it was something with the electrical system. I was told it was fixed and I could pick my truck up. The cost was $1600 due to needing a more "thorough" diagnostic test. I paid them graciously. Less than two weeks later, my truck stops working due to the same

This Guy is a straight SCAM. Do not leave your car with this guy he likes about the work he has done and will try to convince you that he has done more work on your vehicle than he really did. If you bring your car in and he has to diagnose it to be a simple fix he will try to make it sound like he has done so much work. Do not be his next victim.

This place is a scam. I brought an an old family Mercedes to Uptown Auto, which was having trouble running at the time. I only asked that they find the issues behind the car not running. Instead, they ran up a huge $4,000-plus bill of extra items. I got the car back and it quit running the day after I got it back into my driveway. I brought it back them, and they supposedly fixed some more things, and the car quit running once again, immediately afterward. My second multi thousand-dollar check to them bounced, as I hadn't transferred enough into my savings account. The owner, Paul, actually called

I've had bad experiences with car dealerships in the past, and I wanted to find a solid mechanic that would be able to help me with some issues regarding my car (luxury import). I spoke with Amanda and Paul of Uptown Auto, and they were extremely courteous and knowledgeable regarding the issues with my vehicle. They were upfront with pricing, and provided valuable advice regarding maintenance and upkeep of the vehicle going forward. I will definitely use them in the future for vehicle maintenance and repair.

They quoted me $1400 to replace my radiator and hoses. After paying a $200 diagnosis fee (including tax), I took it to Cacamo Repair shop where they replaced my radiator and hoses for $400.

OVERPRICED & RUDE!!! Do not support this shop.

I brought my car in to get the alternator replaced. They were ridiculously overpriced! Once I decided to get the car towed to another shop, they were not the warmest toward me. I paid the diagnostic fee (also high!) and waited for the tow truck to come.

My car had been parked for me in a space close to the road. My car could not be turned on and moved, so when the tow truck arrived, the driver had to block access to the road to lift my car onto the truck. The driver was doing his best to be quick and efficient. We were blocking cars and creating

GF took her Civic ,which she regularly has serviced, in because the service engine light was on. That night she told me they wanter $2200 for service. The next morning I called and asked what they were doing for that price. I don't drive the car much but it is a '14 so it can't have 50000 miles on it. In addition to changing all the fluids, they are rotating the tires of which 2 are 4 weeks old, replacing a front drive shaft because a boot was split and adjusting the valves which need to be checked at 110000 miles. Of course she told them to go ahead without consulting me.

I'll never go here again. It took 3 days to get my car back(for wheel balance and alignment) and I paid almost twice what it should have cost because they charged me diagnostic fees and an "hour" to check my differentials and transfer case(which I didn't ask him to do), not sure what he did with the extra 30 mins when he was done. Everything seems okay on the car, so that's good.

I brought my car in to have the AC compressor replaced. They had the car for two days before even looking at it. I was EXPLICITLY clear that they should call me with an estimate once they looked at it before doing any work. I was assured more than once I would receive an estimate before any work was done on the car.
They did not call. Luckily I called in the middle of the day (they said they would call me back, they didn't, so I had to call them) and they had taken the car apart WITHOUT my permission, and informed me it would be a 2,000 repair. I immediately checked online for estimates, and

Because 0 stars can't be picked. WATCH OUT and ask LOTS OF QUESTIONS GET THINGS IN WRITING! Completely disappointed , I was quoted a price for a diagnostic , then told my total was 3x what I was quoted. I wasn't told what the additional cost was for time. I asked to speak to the owner who was the one who quoted me the flat rate and was told he was "too busy". The price I was quoted to fix the car is 2x what I was quoted by another shop . I decided not to fix my car with them and all of my engine covers were left in my trunk . Nothing was put back in my car where it was . NEVER

I brought my Audi A4 in for a coolant leak the Wednesday before Thanksgiving week. The work done was good. It was more expensive that I would've expected. My major complaint is that they couldn't fix the problem before the Thanksgiving Holiday (they originally told me it would be finished on Tuesday or Wednesday before Thanksgiving) so I was stuck during the holiday break without my car. Especially for the cost of the project, I did not want to be without my car for nearly two weeks.

Uptown Auto Specialist has been servicing my cars for17 years. I am confident of their work, appreciative of being treated as though I was family and delighted with their immediate help with small problems, which didn't always result in a charge.
I wouldn't go anywhere else, and can highly recommend them.

I brought my Bmw m5 to figure out why I was losing power. I would press the gas pedal and my car would delay on giving me power. There solution was my oxygen sensors were bad and quoted me 2k for repair. I payed and picked up my vehicle and called the owner/mechanic stating that it is having the same problem he stated " your car has to warm up before running smoothly". So I took it to another shop and they showed my it my mass air sensor and it was 250$ to repair vs 2k. Well I waisted my money and they did not know what they were doing. Take your car to them with caution I recommend if

My boyfriend took the my car to this shop and they charged us $175 to look at the car (they claim their mechanic spent 3 hours to work on it, however, i know for sure that all they did was hooked it up to a diagnostic computer in the shop, which takes considerably less time than 3 hours claimed; more like 30 minutes) and then estimated repairs to $1100. Later when my boyfriend got home he looked up on youtube some troubleshooting tips on what could have been causing the engine light to come on, and guess what, he was able to fix it in 10 minutes. Stay away from this shop!!!

Meh, you win some, you lose some.
PROS: Very friendly, prompt service.
CONS: Not saving any money by having car serviced there. The services they quoted me were within $100 of taking it to the dealership, so I'll just take it to the dealership. :(

For the record, the car is an 06 Mercedes CLK. I visited this location based on reviews from our realtor, and another Yelp reviewer.

Charged $400 for a new battery.

We had our Jeep towed to Uptown Auto Specialist when the battery died and we were unable to open the hood to jump it. It was clear the cable for the hood latch was stretched out. After working on it for 3 hours, they called and let us know it would cost $800 to fix. No one asked permission to work on it and no papers were signed before the work began. I am not sure how a group of specialized mechanics took 3 hours to open a hood and change a battery but there you have it.

When I went to pick up the Jeep, declining changing the hood latch because we were told replacing

The crew at Uptown has always treated my wife and I right. We own 3 BMW's and a VW. They have always treated us in the best way. We knew when we bought our vehicles that they needed the expertise of a professional to maintain them properly. Paul and his crew have never let us down.
Simply put, I know it is stressful to have a broken down car and not prepared for a repair bill. It is not Uptown Auto Specialist fault. That is the reason I feel there are a lot of "sour grape" reviews here.
Most people do not take the time to write the pleasant experiences they have with a business. Regardless if
