Discosapien Academy is Colorado's original DJ and music production school. We offer both in person and online private lessons and classes for DJing, music production, Ableton Live, Logic Pro, Traktor Pro, Serato DJ, Native Instruments Maschine, Pioneer Rekordbox, Native Instruments Komplete, Music Recording, Serum Sound design, and Ozone mixing and mastering.

Rex is incredible and we had the BEST experience with him this January for our wedding. We truly had no complaints. He did such an amazing job that guests were complimenting him all night and several vendors even approached me to say how great he was doing!
His lights and additional accessories were also great at creating the fun atmosphere we were looking for.

Rex at Discosapien was absolutely perfect for our New Year's Eve wedding. Once the dancing started, it never stopped. He helped us create playlists for our ceremony, our cocktail hour, our dinner service, and most importantly, the dance floor. He emceed our event, kept the flow going, and made it into a true party. He brought lights, all the microphones and speakers needed, and the photo booth was an extra fun feature. We received compliments from many of our guests about how fun our DJ was.

My wife and I chose to use a Dj for our wedding at a private residence in Steamboat over the Summer after realizing that hiring a band was way more expensive than we had budgeted for. Our wedding day truly would not have been complete without Rex and his love for the same music as us. Leading up to the wedding, Rex provided support and feedback as to what would be the best music to kick off the day, and then based off of our song requests, he provided a twist on popular music by making it something that my husband, guests, and I would truly enjoy while also mixing in our specific requests. Rex DJ'ed our wedding this past weekend. Don't take this lightly: I'm a DJ myself, and as such am both particular and difficult to please in this realm. There is nothing more disappointing to me than a dime-a-dozen, mediocre wedding DJ. Now BECAUSE I'm a DJ, people assumed that I had some behind-the-scenes hand in the mastery that Rex laid down on us. I had to correct them. Sure, he hit a few of the tracks I suggested, but it's clear he's he's got this down to both a science and an art form.

A 10/10 experience from start to finish. From the moment I submitted an inquiry to Rex about his services to the day-of our wedding, Discosapien was an excellent company to work with. Rex was extremely organized and communicative, acting as the liaison between his DJs and our wedding coordinator. On-site, DJ Archie was a blast with tons of hype all night while perfectly curating our soundtrack for the evening. We also did the photo-booth, which was probably the highlight of the whole night for our guests. Would absolutely recommend to anyone looking for a fun DJ!

I want to personally thank Rex with this review. Before I met up with Rex for DJ lessons I was absolutely lost with my mixing and didn't know much at all. After just 2 lessons I feel incredible confident. In addition to this, Rex has professional level equipment in his studio, which helped me get practice in for live shows. Overall an awesome and professional experience.

DJ Rex is the BEST! We are very particular about our music taste and DJ Rex was spot on for the music and vibe we were looking for at our wedding! We have a love for music festivals, and DJ Rex brought the music festival to our wedding! We love how he played the music/songs we had in mind and mixed in guest’s requests perfectly! The transitions were so upbeat and fun, he truly kept the party going from start to end. We had SO many compliments from the guests on the music, even my grandma was up and dancing telling me how fun this DJ is! 😊

Rex saved our wedding! We had a DJ lined up to do our wedding but unfortunately he bailed out on us, less than a week before our wedding. Rex stepped in and made the planning process so simple and easy. He made us feel comfortable and less worried about how short of a timeline that we were on. Rex is a true professional at what he does and we couldn’t have been anymore pleased. The quality of his equipment was awesome. Rex is so genuine and a very organized person. I highly recommend Discosapien for any occasion!

DJ Rex was the best wedding DJ we could ask for! Really people only remember one main thing from weddings, the music and therefore the party. Don't cut corners. Get the best! Rex was spontaneous, fun and kept the party going. When we wanted to party on the deck, he moved the speakers outside. When we wanted to party in the reception room, he moved the speakers back. When we wanted to continue the party in the foyer, he let us blast his playlist while he packed up. He was super adaptable, took requests and read the crowd well. Not to mention he is a REAL DJ who can mash up his own unique music

Rex was the DJ for our friend's wedding last summer - once we heard him, we knew we had to request him for ours as well! Rex had great communication with us and you can tell he has an enormous amount of experience. He is professional, fun and kept our guests on the dance floor the entire night with a large variety of music - country, 90's pop, EDM, trap, twerk, etc. I would recommend Rex and Discosapien to anyone looking for a wedding or event DJ.

Discosapien, and Rex in particular, is an amazing DJ. We were so happy with Rex, he really helped to make our wedding day special by helping keep us on schedule for the ceremony and toasts, and then by hosting an awesome dance party during the reception. He catered to all of our needs, and most importantly catered to our guests on the dance floor. He was great at reading the room and playing just the right music to keep everyone on the dance floor. Also important to us, was the fact that he doesn't just play song ofter song, but instead he actually mixes songs together as a talented DJ

Rex went above and beyond what we had expected! We knew he was totally in sync with our style of music and was super flexible with coordinating very last minute requests that popped up hours and even minutes before our wedding. The stringed quartet we hired was unable to make it for our ceremony due to a pile up and Rex was able to step in and cover all the same songs we had planned to use in our ceremony over his sound system. We had originally not planned to do a bouquet toss, but the last minute request was honored with no notice and he worked it in, which made for fabulous photos and 1 thrilled

I am so glad my husband and I chose Discosapien to be the DJ for our wedding reception. Rex, the owner, was so quick to get back to me when I was getting initial estimates and information. Discosapien is also very reasonably priced for the fantastic value you get.
Our DJ was Raphael/DJ Chavo, and we can't say enough great things about him. I've already recommended him to two brides, and will continue to recommend him to co-workers and friends. Raphael met with us twice before the wedding, once for a reception walkthrough and once for a more detailed walkthrough of our music selections

Awesome outfit! These guys knocked it out of the park. From Rex managing the coordination side, and DJ Kyle performing the DJ duties, absolutely no complaints! Almost didn't do a DJ and can't imagine our wedding without one. Kyle is extremely responsive to your input, adept at managing requests, and a wiz on the tables. If you're in doubt, don't sweat it. Rex & DJ Kyle will take care of you on the big day!

We have used Discosapien for two parties now and could not have asked for better experiences. Excellent communication from the start made it a breeze to schedule and the DJ (Justin) was excellent. Our two parties were totally different (one for adults, one for kids) and Justin's performance was perfect for both. We wouldn't even consider using another DJ.

He allowed me to put down whatever deposit I wanted to hold the event.
He always answered his phone when I called and was positive and reassuring.
AND The music and lights at our event were spot on. Here's how you know it's good: Our event coordinator, who didn't know him and hadn't worked with him, but goes to, you know, like 50 weddings a year said: "Wow, your DJ was awesome he was like a club DJ
