In late October 2021 I decided to go to Cozumel with friends of mine from college to go scuba diving but needed to get certified and purchase equipment. I cannot begin to describe just how wonderful the staff was a Divetech Houston. The open water certification class was top-notch and I am now hooked. I never felt unsafe even though I was a bit scared when I started. Everyone on staff put me at ease.

I have nothing but great things to say about Don McAfoose and Divetech. Don is passionate about SCUBA and is an excellent and patient instructor. There were a couple of people in my class that were quite frightened in the water and Don went out of his way to make them feel at ease and they became great students! I also like the fact that Don is always willing to have former students join his open water classes for additional practice and is proactive about letting everyone know when he will be out there.

I coordinated a class for three BSA Scouts that wanted to become scuba certified before a trip. As a diver, I sat in on the class and pool sessions with the scouts and observed Don teaching the academic and practical skills. He was very professional and extremely patient with my Scouts and other adults in the same class. Some of the students had challenges with clearing their ears and Don worked each of them individually to first maintain safety, enable them to understand the situation and rescheduled when needed. Don was very flexible in rescheduling to accommodate schedules.

My wife was very nervous at first, however she gained confidence with the help of Don McAfoose. His experience, patience and understanding of my wife's fear of water depth was quickly mastered.

My husband and I got certified with Don McAfoose, what a great instructor! I was unsure if I would enjoy scuba, Don did everything he could to make sure I was comfortable and fully prepared. Class was fun and Don gave us some great advice on what gear to look into buying. All of the employees at Divetech have been great to work with and we have enjoyed our time in their pool. Highly recommend this shop and Don!

My fiancé and I had a wonderful experience with Don and the entire Divetech crew. We felt welcomed into the world with open arms and presented with a safe place to learn. From the day I signed us up they worked with my scheduling error and class dates selection. When we bought our equipment prior to starting class we were explained the difference between brands and told good starting equipment and our goals as divers were considered when recommending all equipment. We were also openly invited to attend any and all trips with the dive family that calls Divetech their home base to have a safe place

Don McAfoose is one of the most amazing dive instructors I have ever met in my dive life (started 1978). The gentleman that wrote bad comments about Don hasn't a clue and I have no idea what his is talking about!!! Don is everything and more that you would want in a dive instructor.

I have had my children certified with Don at a different dive shop. They received an excellent SCUBA education and are very comfortable in the water because of Don. My husband and I trust him with our most precious possessions and he has the highest standards and values to match our trust in him. He was professional, flexible and thorough in every aspect of our contact with him from the classroom, to the pool, to open water, to purchasing equipment and finally advising us on dive trips. I am a diver with 300+ hours underwater, but have never been certified. My father was a master diver and taught me in the mid sixties, long before certifications were mandatory.
Recently my son, granddaughter, and myself got certified, and Don McAfoose was our instructor.
I thought he was very professional, patient, and informative. Honestly, I thought I would not learn anything because of my experience level.
I was wrong. Don opened my eyes to some new techniques. He was very good with some of the new divers dealing with their fears and limitations. He is very safety oriented and a true professional

I recently completed my Diver Stress & Rescue and React Right courses at Divetech with Don McAfoose. I continue to refer my friends and family that ask about diving over to Don and Divetech. I started my open water diving certification with Don back in 2017 and recently earned my Master Diver certification.
