This nation's many care facilities provide extended care for the physical needs of their residents. As volunteer chaplains, we provide spiritual care not only for those who reside in care centers but also for those who are employed by the facilities. The goal of Nursing Home Ministries is to glorify God by taking His Word and His love to these facilities.
In the past 56 months, our reporting chaplains held 29,164 services, ministered to 382,438 attendees, and made 266,738 one-on-one visits. God has honored this ministry with 713 first-time decisions for Christ as Lord and Savior of their lives during this time. We praise God for how He is working across this country.

Services
Our founders recognized that there were no chaplains serving care center residents in the local (Portland, Oregon) area. Some churches provided weekend services, but rarely ministered to individual residents. Our own observation is that 80% of those living in long term facilities receive less than one visit per month, on average.

Inerrant in the original writing, infallible and God-breathed, and our final authority for faith and practice. He became man, without ceasing to be God. Was virgin born. He accomplished our redemption through His death on the cross as a vicarious sacrifice. Our justification is made sure by His literal, physical resurrection from the dead.
Our Executive Director, Dr. John Schneider, has been a part of NHM since he was commissioned as a chaplain by the Board in 1997. In addition to his duties as Executive Director, John serves as a chaplain in four care facilities in the greater Portland area. John comes from a pastoral and educational background, having pastored churches in Montana, North Dakota and Oregon, as well as having taught in a Christian high school for ten years.
