Gaskets are normally cut from a flat sheet material such as paper, rubber, silicone, cork, compressed sheet, neoprene, nitrile rubber, fiberglass, polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) among many others. Allstate Gasket stocks hundreds of grades of gasket materials - solid, closed cell, and open-cell rubbers, non-asbestos compressed fiber, food-grade materials, PTFE, EPDM, FKM, cork and cork blends, natural gum rubber, and many more.
Very good wear and abrasion characteristics and repels oils and greases. It also has excellent resistance to ozone breakdown and has a long use-life even through repeated temperature cycling. Very similar in attributes to EPDM, FDA Compliant Buna-N is often a specified material in the machinery used to manufacture pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, and chemicals.
