Stayed for a wedding, the event itself, the banquet hall and ceremony, were beautiful, food at the reception was great as well. For an event it would be a great place to host, however, the room, was incredibly disappointing. The bed was rock hard and incredibly uncomfortable, the curtains weren't wide enough to close all the way so it wasn't possible to sleep past sunrise, there was no extra toilet paper provided in the room (and less than half a roll was left when we checked in, not even an entire roll. This does make me question their cleanliness in the time of COVID. If we are using the rest

Picturesque setting , spacious banquet area, ample parking , easy access check in for overnight wedding guests. Service and food was excellent.Safety protocols in place, social distancing inside and out to mingle with guests. We had a memorable fun night as mother of the groom and I’ve never seen my son soo happy excited for his special day to arrive with his beautiful bride! The sparklers were a surprise photo op for a spectacular end of night touch!

Another guest affected by the Hurricane here. 4-5 rooms in total, all of us getting screwed by them. We called 2 days prior to cancel as our reservation said, and We have been treated terribly ever since including my mother who was hung up on. If you’re attending events in Sterling I would recommend avoiding giving your money to these people. Terribly shady and RUDE

Had a very nice meal at the Cedar Cellar restaurant, from the warm bread to the creme brûlée. I had the steak tips, which were thick and grilled nicely. The grilled asparagus was flavorful as well as the mashed potatoes that I substituted.
The service was attentive and careful not to rush.
So why is this restaurant not more popular? The place was not half full and no one waiting when we were done.
It is a little pricy, the tips cost $20, but the kitchen is clearly very capable.
Maybe because the location is more known for wedding receptions in the function hall. To get to the restaurant,

My significant and I are displaced from our home due to flooding. We were very excited after meeting the owner while at another hotel she apparently owns. She suggested the suites here at the Chocksett Inn would be very good for our anticpated long term stay.
Unfortunately the stay has been a disaster and we're now STUCK here for the next two weeks. So before commiting to stay at this place be forewarned.
The owner was quite aware of our situation. We were awaiting the adjusters for our insurance so we secured the room with our personal credit card. Today the insurance company

As you can see all of the other reviews other people have written about the Chocksett , IT RELATES TO THE RESTAURANT NOT THE HOTEL. READ CAREFULLY. The restaurant is decent. Best Chicken Pot Pie. THE BEST. HATS OFF TO THE CHEF.
However...
The hotel. I wanted to check out today. After 2 nights , I am done. They charged my credit card the entire stay at check in. They don't allow refunds. I am not here for a wedding. I've been told that the DJ noise will keep you up all night long, on the weekends. If you're coming for a quite weekend escape, this is not the place.

Stayed at the inn 6 nights. I was slightly disappointed that the restaurant was closed on both sunday and monday, and then was only open for 4 hours each successive night until the weekend. Food was good throughout the week. My favorite was the swordfish special. The chef really picked one of his strengths that night and it was fantastic. There was never really anyone at either the Inn or the Restaurant throughout the week until Friday, and after Friday I can completely see why.
I went downstairs and took my normal spot at the bar, and was immediately recognized by all the staff. I ordered a starter

Wonderful, warm atmosphere. Our party of 4 ordered off the specials and we each enjoyed the flavor, presentation, and size. I had the cheese crusted haddock, which was on green beans and pilaf. Others had chicken parmigiana, salmon, and beef tips. Everything was good. It's a Sterling dining spot. ; )

Restaurant was a bit difficult to find. The restaurant sign needs to be lighten up . We saw the ball room and the Inn but not the restaurant. The restaurant entrance is between( corner) the ballroom and Inn. The restaurant is located in the lower level. We visited on a Friday night and had a reservation which is not needed. The place in clean. It's great place to have drinks. The service was average. For starter, we had the fried green bean with spicy ranch dipping sauce. It was refreshing with perfect crunch and snap of the beans when you bite into it. For main course, we ordered blacken

My experience at the Chocksett Inn in Sterling, Mass was excellent. My daughter had her rehearsal dinner and Wedding at this location. September 24 and 25th will always be a great memory for me and my family thanks to the staff at this Inn and restaurant.
Our rehearsal dinner was held in the restaurant on the bottom floor of the Inn. The restaurant and bar is very nice and cozy. The staff was excellent! The food was very good and served in a reasonable time. The drinks were very good not cheap but good. It appeared that everyone in the wedding party was happy and enjoyed their food

To give credit where it's due, I think the Chocksett Inn is trying, but they're not there yet. I had my wedding there in October, and the venue was beautiful. The grounds were gorgeous, the food fantastic, and the reception was a blast. Great grub, excellent scenery, nice bartenders - the after-party downstairs went great and we wrapped up at 1am quite happy, married, and feeling fine.
The issue is that the wedding planner(s) and the hotel management don't seem to share with each other what's planned, or how to work with one another. A few examples of things that were worked

I wish there were a 0 star option. This meal was an absolute train wreck from start to finish. Poor quality food and ingredients. There was not a single acceptable part of the meal other than the water.
This was our anniversary dinner, and we ordered appetizers. We each had a clam chowder that really didn't taste like much. Canned chowder tastes better than theirs
My wife had ordered a ravioli appetizer that came out as a different entrée not appetizer. When it was corrected, the ravioli was supposed to be a maple syrup flavor in the ravioli. It was clearly a fake corn syrup flavored

Having made reservations before seeing reviews on yelp we would not have tried it. However some friends did try it recently and they had a relatively good experience. Same was true for us.
Comments on lighting are spot on (no pun intended). We were in a section that was fine but there is a section of the dining room which was bright. We noticed that a party asked the waitress to dim the lights
We had a salmon and scallop dish....both were good and we had no complaints. Salad was simple but was fresh. Only major complaint was that the main course came out right after our salads.
