Tailored uniquely to you, we utilize numerous theories and treatment approaches including wilderness therapy, nature-based therapy, somatic therapy, EMDR therapy, trauma-informed therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, gestalt therapy, attachment therapy, and mindfulness therapy. The conscious connection of body and mind is essential for mental health and well-being, and through our professional experience and training, coupled with current neuroscience, we see that emotional and physical symptoms manifest in tandem, so effective treatment must too. We offer indoor, outdoor, and virtual sessions.

At Evolve in Nature, we work alongside the client to achieve relief in the present moment and reduce suffering over time. This therapeutic approach is a collaborative, caring process of body-centered psychotherapy in which the client participates in feeling the sensations of their body, identifies emotions, names any attachments or associations with those emotions, and allows stored emotions to move through the body, thereby offering relief.
Chronic illness not only impacts external relationships, but it impacts the relationship we have to our body. It is unpredictable. It causes pain. It causes mistrust in the body. To help heal the relationship with the body, we provide psychoeducation on the nervous system, how chronic illness disrupts its normal functioning, and how that disruption can exasperate chronic illness symptoms. This in turn helps quell the chronic illness symptoms and moves towards developing a healthy relationship with the body.
We, as your psychotherapists, will collaborate with you to alleviate present discomfort and decrease long-term suffering. This approach involves a compassionate and cooperative process of body-centered psychotherapy where clients engage in feeling their bodily sensations, recognizing their emotions, identifying any attachments or associations with those emotions, and enabling the release of stored emotions to provide relief.
Talking to a couple’s therapist takes courage! A relationship specialist provides a place where these issues can be explored and expressed without the world coming to an end. Our role is to offer a safe and informed space in which difficult feelings and thoughts can be explored between the couple without judgment or blame. At times, developing new communication skills transforms a relationship, and at other times what is necessary is deep work to create a new marriage with new agreements and new ways of connecting that were once thought impossible. We encourage and support you stepping into understanding one another, building secure attachment, transparent communication, deep, passionate, and intimate love, and an exploration of your sexuality.

Ma, Lpcc — Psychotherapist
Gentle guidance, curiosity, non-judgment, and play, are all values I bring to my practice as a therapist and as a human being. I am interested in how our nervous systems interface with whatever our struggles are, and how once we are able to nurture and regulate our nervous systems we are better able to manage our conditions and whatever life throws our way. Using a combination of body-centered therapy, emotional literacy tools, mindfulness, and attachment-focused therapy. I support adolescents, adults and couples with anxiety, depression, relationship challenges, trauma, communication skills, internal conflicts, chronic pain, chronic illness, life altering events, Medical trauma, grief, and life stress.

Shelly Froehlich and the team at Evolve in Nature have been an amazing part of my life over the last two years. I absolutely recommend Shelly and Evolve in Nature if you are considering therapy and self help in your life. Shelly's support and friendship has helped me grow through a multitude of life events. I have found attention and introspection to those things that make me who I am and who I want to be in this world. The joy is in the journey and this life journey has been so wonderful with Evolve in Nature.

Heather is a highly skilled and compassionate therapist who brings her intuition and body awareness to support others to tap into their own inner wisdom. She is especially gifted at working with individuals with chronic illness, and the associated trauma, who want to be more at ease in their own skin.

Shelly is an incredible listener and wise, compassionate and intuitive in her response. When I am with Shelly I feel she is fully present with me and able to see me in a way that always serves my higher good. I also love that Shelly digs right into the hard stuff, asking thoughtful questions and leaning into the discomfort in order to find the gold.
All of my conversations with Shelly end with a sense of clarity or a nugget of wisdom that her attention helped me discover within myself. I would highly recommend her as a therapist.

Shelly is the most effective therapist I've ever had, period. I highly recommend her to those who need to deal with any past trauma. Since my early 20's I've known that if I didn't deal with my traumatic childhood, I'd never live to my fullest potential or feel truly happy. Shortly after I moved to Boulder at age 43, I joined Shelly's first ACOA therapy group.
I also started personal therapy a year later. She has literally helped me crawl out of a deep, dark hole of pain. It is hard work, but so worth it. If you are ready to take the next step and do the work, Shelly definitly has the skills and along with her warm, judgement free personality, you can't help but succeed.

Working with Shelly has changed my life in ways I could never of imagined! With her I have worked on numerous disturbances, insecurities, communication skills, and so much more. She is gentle, conscious, attentive and ever supportive. I started with nature sessions that were done while on a hike! I got the full effect of evolving in nature! I have been able to improve my life from everything I have learned and continue to learn with her. Her group sessions are powerful, ever supportive, and tremendously empowering as well!

Shelly has been an amazing support. Every visit has opened my eyes to a completely new perspective and emotionally centered me in a way I wasn't even aware that I needed. I've seen other therapists in the past and I was never able to connect on a real level with, they felt more like visiting a doctor trying to get me in and out. Shelly and I immediately connected and I felt like I was really in a safe space for me to share and evolve.

I've been working with Shelly for a year and a half, and it was the best decision I have ever made. I was really struggling to cope with a lot of things when I started my sessions, and she helped ground me, and start to figure out where all my struggles stemmed from. She is patient, caring, understanding, empathetic, and always pushes you in a healthy and encouraging way.
She always makes sure you know that she is there, and that you are not alone. She helps you find ways to sit with yourself and be present, while also identifying your unhealthy patterns and learning how to change them. She assigns homework, and helps you learn how to truly do the work yourself, not rely on her to just "fix" you. In all of this, she teaches you helpful/healthy language and strategies that are not about blaming, but rather about realizing what you are bringing to difficult situations and power struggles that you have found yourself stuck in repeatedly.
She also considers/recognizes that everyone comes from a different background, and is very aware of how these backgrounds contribute to diverse experiences in the world. At the same time, she helps you realize that many other people have similar experiences to you, and helps you realize that there is community in struggle and healing. I have never been happier or felt more supported. She is wonderful and I would (and already have!) recommend her to anyone!
