Tray Payne is an experienced trial attorney and the founder of Payne, Powell, Truitt, and Chandler (PPTC), with a strong track record of success across various legal cases. Raised in Post, Texas, Tray graduated from Texas Tech University and Oklahoma City University before working as a state and federal prosecutor from 2000-2009. He is dedicated to helping clients achieve favorable outcomes through his extensive legal knowledge and common sense. Tray is admitted to practice in all Texas state courts and the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Texas. He is also a committed community leader, having served as Mayor of Lubbock, a board member at Trinity Christian School, and an advocate for local health and economic development initiatives.

Matt brings over 25 years of experience in both criminal and civil law to the firm. Before joining, he served as the Elected Criminal District Attorney for Lubbock County and as Chief Attorney for the Midland Independent School District. Nobody ever WANTS to hire an attorney. It is usually a need, and a need that is accompanied by high level of stress and uncertainty. Tray Payne displayed a level of knowledge of the law, but broke it down where it was super simple to comprehend. He was always accessible during the moments we needed him, and provided very clear guidance and instruction in dealing with a very scary time for our family. I hope the need to hire an attorney does not pop up into our lives again, but should it, I can assure you that Tray will be my first phone call.

I was arrested for a minor drug offense while passing through Texas. Tray provided excellent advice, made some phone calls to find out what happened with my case after my calls to 10 different numbers were fruitless("No Bill" at the grand jury, thankfully), and he didn't charge a penny for the help.
