Tara O'Connor is a portrait photographer based in Phoenix, Arizona who is affectionately known as "Tara O." by her friends and clients. She started her interest in photography around age ten, when she began setting up photo sessions of her younger sister in their bedroom, using play clothes to dress her up and stuffed animals as props.
She participated in elective photo classes in high school, where she fell in love with the dark room. Her passion continued as she pursued her degree in Fine Art at Arizona State University where she graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Photography in 2008. As she ended her formal art education, she started to narrow in on portraiture exclusively, and simultaneously continued to fall into the niche world of retro styling.

Tara is amazing to work with. I booked one of the special a pin up photo/hair/makeup sessions she coordinates and I am beyond thrilled with the outcome. I've never really done a photo session for myself, so I didn't know what to expect. She put me at ease even before the session, keeping in touch via email with suggestions for outfits and options for accessories and props and general expectations for the day. Tara is such a talented photographer and a genuinely decent human being! I have done pinup photos, maternity photos, family photos, and holiday-themed photos with her, and have never been disappointed. She brings her own creativity, but also is open to any ideas you might have. Recently we did Christmas photos and she was able to capture the adorable-ness (new word I made up!) of our toddler, which can be difficult when they go from happy to grumpy in .5 seconds! Comfortable, relaxed, and easy going is how I would describe a session with Tara O. I'd never done a pin up style session before. I didn't even think of accessories, or any other little props and the smaller details. But she has a magical room with every accessory, prop and even a few looks a gal could ask for! These little additions made me feel even more giddy, add some big curls and some glam makeup and this natural hippie felt right at home! We've discussed doing other style sessions which she brought up as a suggestion knowing that I have a few different looks in my back

Tara O is an absolutely fantastic photographer. She is exceedingly professional and outlines and addresses all expectations for a shoot while still being wonderfully creative and such fun. Her personality is one that will make you feel confident and comfortable while you shoot. Her knowledge of classic pinup style photography is first class ans she knows all the tricks and tips for perfect posing. All ofher themed photoshoots are always perfectly on point.
