Services
The ACT Emergency Shelter offers a safe haven for victims of domestic violence and their children. Our Fort Myers shelter offers 73-beds and our Cape Coral shelter has 23-beds and 19 in our Hendry County shelter. In our fiscal year 2018, ACT provided shelter for 692 residential clients for over 25,000 nights of shelter, and provided 18,316 residential counseling hours.

In 1974 a group of dedicated women founded the very first rape crisis center in Lee County. From operating out of their homes to address the trauma women and children faced in our community, to in 1978 officially incorporating under the name of Abuse Counseling and Treatment, Inc. (ACT) and opening the first safe shelter for domestic violence, these women have changed the face of our community and saved countless lives.
Provides counseling/social work services to residential clients and their children, including crisis intervention, shelter admissions, residential case management, shelter departures, and case file closure. Maintains current and accurate records of client interviews, keeping all forms and records of clients up-to-date and in compliance with funding requirements.
ACT's mission is to protect, support, educate and empower victims of domestic violence and their children, survivors of sexual assault and human trafficking in Lee, Hendry, and Glades Counties. ACT's externalvision is to develop a community where all individuals are safe, respected and valued; where any form ofviolence is unacceptable and for all individuals in our community have access to resources that teach and support a fear-free environment.
