At that time, a person started out as a licensed agent and had to be under a Broker for a two year period before taking the Broker's exam and having their own real estate company.
I did exactly that and in the two year period I took the exam and have owned my own company, Pickenbrock Realty, ever since. I incorporated in September of 2014. Today, it's a little different. One is first licensed as a Broker Associate and has the same two year restriction before becoming an Employing Broker in order to have their own business.
