Medicare Advantage (MA) plans, sometimes referred to as Medicare Part C, are one way to receive your Part A and Part B coverage. They are health insurance plans run by private insurance companies with guidelines and oversight from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS).
To be given contracts from CMS to provide coverage to Medicare members, the benefits must be as good or better than what they would get if they had Original Medicare. While on an MA plan you would not use our Medicare card. Instead, you would use your Medicare Advantage plan card when you have services performed.

Part D plans can either be stand-alone plans or can come as part of your Medicare Advantage plan. You can only have one Part D plan. If your Medicare Advantage plan includes Part D and you enroll in a stand-alone Part D plan you will be automatically disenrolled from your Medicare Advantage Plan. Most Part D plans have several stages.
