I've practiced nothing but Chapter 7 Bankruptcy and Debtor Protection Law for over 30 years. That's because I truly enjoy seeing the look of relief on my clients' faces when they hear how I can help, and as we implement and complete the plan. My staff and I dedicate ourselves to doing an excellent job, but we also share the desire to really listen, give advice, and make each client happier.
For the initial consultation, many people ask what they need to bring with them, and are surprised that it's really very little, if anything. I don't even need copies of all the bills. Instead, I just need a rough idea for the first time we talk. In general, at first, whether it's in office or by phone, I like to just talk.
Chapter 13 can sometimes be helpful where someone has too much in assets to lose, or doesn't qualify for Chapter 7 because of a high income. It involves a partial payment plan over a number of years. Because of the extra cost, and the fact that many cases just don't make it all the way though, I only handle Chapter 7 cases.
