Cash flow is the life blood of all businesses and a must for its growth. It is the primary indicator of business health and is generally considered the most critical component of success for a business. In its basic form, cash flow is the movement of money in and out of a business. It is not profit and loss, although trading clearly has an effect on cash flow.
Congress, like most of us, has a budget to work with. A large part of their budget comes from federal income taxes. The federal income tax system is meant to be fair and progressive. To make sure everyone is paying a fair amount of income tax, and not reducing their tax bill too low, Congress enacted an "alternate" system called alternative minimum tax (AMT).
