My husband and I wanted an intimate ceremony under the redwoods and Sarah led us to the perfect spot. She took candids of us getting ready - fantastic.

I really like weddings. But I LOVE marriage. Love you're willing to commit a lifetime to is a really big deal. Having been married for over a decade, I truly understand the deep value your photos continue to grow year after year. This is the beginning of a journey together on a road with so many unseen twists and turns.
Having an engagement session is like practicing for a big game. We get to know each other over a cocktail or coffee. We talk first and then we make some magic. You two love each other and I guide you into pretty light so you can do the work of being awesome together. When all is said and done we have had a wonderful evening together and you get photographs that will show you for years to come just how beautiful you are.
Tiny weddings make my heart sing. It's no secret I wish Dustin and I had run off to the woods to say our I Do's. There is such power in a wedding where you have each other and that is enough. Photographing elopements is such a joy to my life and balm to my soul. The intimate nature of these weddings breaks down walls, leaving all of us involved vulnerable to the inescapable beauty of love.
I used to hate people telling me to cherish my kids when they were babies and toddlers and even now as they get older because it all goes by so fast. I don't hate it now, because I have realized just how true it is. Life moves SO fast. The days are long, but the years are short. TRUTH! I feel like in the blink of an eye my kids went from toothless grins and chubby fingers to braces and long limbs.
Sarah and Dustin are absolutely amazing photographers. We had our engagement session in Davis (around UC Davis campus, where my husband and I met), and our wedding in San Jose with Sarah Maren Photography. The weather unexpectedly turned ugly on our engagement session day and it absolutely poured and hailed on us, but both Sarah and Dustin were troopers (even if they were soaked!).

Sarah has photographed my family twice in the past three years. SHE IS THE BEST.
She is an amazing photographer, an artist, really. She is so talented at arranging bodies together and finding light. Our family is in the THROES of adolescence and she figured out how to see through that...or maybe even right into it! I love how she caught our kids' personalities and the special place each of them has in our family.
Sarah makes even "perpetual blinkers" like me, who just feel weird in front of a camera, feel comfortable. She's funny. No, HILARIOUS. She puts you at ease and then, with a magic wand

I tried to give SMP eleventy million stars, but UGH, it's capped out at 5. After having an AMAZING boudoir shoot with Sarah, I knew I HAD to have her shoot my wedding, when the day came. When it was time, I planned pretty much my entire wedding (like, the date and budget, the whole nine) around SMP. I HAD. TO. HAVE. HER. Worth every single penny, and then some.
