Dr. Shiotsu is highly respected by his colleagues, who often refer their patients to him for help in resolving complex and challenging dental situations. Services
A native of Washington state, specifically Mercer Island, Dr. Tam graduated from Mercer Island High School in 2011 and then completed a Bachelor's of Science degree in Neurobiology at the University of Washington (UW). His strong interest in both art and science led him to the UW School of Dentistry, which he graduated with a Doctorate in Dental Surgery (DDS) in 2020.
As you can probably know, it is always easier to prevent dental problems rather than treat them. The best thing you can do for your oral health is brush your teeth about twice a day (typically after meals and before bed), and floss about once a day (to remove food, plaque, and bacteria from hard-to-reach places).
Here at Goichi Shiotsu DDS, PS in Mercer Island, WA we want all our patients to be well educated on their oral health. When you understand how to take great care of your mouth, you are much more likely to keep it in tip-top shape. For this reason, we have a plethora of helpful content for you to peruse regarding the services that we offer an how to avoid dental complications.
Preparing the Jawbone: sometimes dental implants require another surgery called bone grafting. This can happen when there is not enough bone to support an implant, or the jawbone is too thin. Once the bone regenerates, you are ready for your new implants. Implanting: our surgeon implants the titanium rod or stake in the jawbone.
Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA) is caused by a blockage of the airways usually when the back of the throat collapses while sleeping. It happens more in men than women, and it is the most common type of sleep apnea. Central Sleep Apnea, in this case, there is no blockage of the airways. However, there is an interruption of communication between the brain and the breathing muscles.

Outstanding, experienced, skilled dentist! Thorough and efficient. Referred to him by my previous dentist who was moving out-of-state and told me this is the dentist he would personally use for his oral care. I've been very pleased with the work he has performed. Office staff is welcoming and friendly, as well.

I was seeing Dr. Ryan Tam for my annual screening. It's a very good experience as Dr. Tam gave me precise information based on diagnosed evidences and discussed his plan throughly. I was also very impressed by his emphasis on how good habits can go a long way in building general teeth health - that's a sign of what a good doctor should care about in my opinion. I will definitely come back.
