Services
An urgent dental need is pain that is preventing you from eating, a facial swelling, an abscessed tooth, broken/chipped tooth, dental trauma or lost crown. If you are experiencing excruciating dental pain or have a facial swelling please call us right away and we will make every effort to see you the same day.
Every 3-6 months, a visit to our dental hygienist is recommended to remove tartar buildup to ensure good oral health. During the hygiene visit we will measure the bone level around each tooth and any recession areas present. X-rays will be taken once per year to ensure there are no problem areas that cannot be visualized during the exam the dentist will complete at each visit.
When a tooth has a small cavity, hole or chipped it can be repaired with a filling. The cavity is removed down to healthy tooth structure and a tooth colored composite filling or restoration is placed. If the cavity is too large the tooth may need a crown or even a root canal. Some signs that you may have a cavity are: mild sensitivity to cold/hot, mild sensitivity when chewing or a visible hole in the tooth.
During your new patient exam we want to get to know you and see how we can help you. We will give you a tour of the office and a doctor will meet with you before any work is completed. Then, we will take x-rays and complete an intraoral and extraoral exam, cancer screening, chart existing dental work and take six measurements around each tooth to evaluate gum and bone health.
We strive to provide care to the whole family including kids of all ages. We recommend children start getting used to the dentist early in life, as soon as the first tooth erupts, to help avoid any fears later on. This can be as simple as just letting us look in your young child's mouth after the parent's regular cleaning or having your older child in for an exam and cleaning.

I’ve had the hardest time finding a dental practice that I can trust and feel comfortable at. I am so happy to have found Southbridge! Truly the best experience I’ve ever had at the dentist. The front desk staff is so friendly, Dr. Hoover was very warm and genuine, and they went out of their way to make sure I was comfortable with every step as I have super sensitive teeth. 10/10 would recommend.

This is a genuine review!!!! I had been there due to gum bleeding in my second trimester pregnancy. My gums were very sore. I was taken really good care especially noteworthy to mention about “Carrrie”, who is a dental hygienist. She was so warm and kind and dealt my situation with lot of care. She is very knowledgeable and experienced. I very much appreciate her friendly and caring attitude. Doctors and staff are all very pleasant and helpful.

It's hard to find a GREAT dentist I've learned. I'm from a small town and didn't know any better when I first started looking. After trying out the big box dentist with revolving dentist and sales pitches to buy more stuff ...and... the dentist where fillings were replaced a year later or I was in "the chair" for 4 hours! Yikes! I found this one through referral!!! Many people had been going for years and I see why.
No sales pitches, great hygienists who take pride in their work (Sarah is amazing) and have been employed there for years and dentist who stick around

I have put off going to the dentist for several years due to bad experiences. Ended up breaking part of my molar off and needed to get a root canal and crown. Was so nervous about going in. After meeting Dr Bowen. And all the staff here I was more then impressed by their professionalism as well as how nice the office is. They made me feel so comfortable through the whole process. Needless to say I will never neglect my teeth and fear the dentist again!!! I will be coming here from now on.

I stopped going here in August of 2016. While I was happy with Dr Barker and Kissinger, I was not happy with the other dentists on the staff. I think that a dentist should be willing to work with the patient, rather that insist that all treatment be done at once, regardless of your insurance limitations.

Excellent service. They do an assessment the first time you come here and recommend where to go next. I just needed a cleaning. I was happy with my cleaning and the dental hygienist. I'm hard to please with dentists, not the my idea of fun. This place was recommended and I think it lived up to its recommendation.

I've been going here for 10 years and love it! Hygienists Sarah and Sue are amazing! The office staff is really friendly and were able to accommodate my last minute schedule change. They have flexible hours for those of us who work. And wow..their office renovation could be in a magazine. Shows they care a lot about their patients. I drive an hour just to go to Southbridge!

I had been going here for 25+ years. The Doctors are great, but the office staff is so bad that I decided to change dentists. I guess I didn't notice them overcharging when I wasn't on my own insurance, and that was something BCBS took care of. However, every time I've been in since I changed insurance I've been overcharged, even though I requested they look at previous records to charge me correctly, since I know my ins pays 80% of composite fillings. I spent three hours in the chair to get a routine filling, and I experienced ample pain after the numbing agent wore off. I was pricked a total of 21 times (I counted) because the procedure took so long. Megan, the office manager, called me the next day to talk. I learned Dr. Barker was NOT in the room during the botched procedure. I highly recommend this place if you want a dental hygienist to mess up your teeth and a dentist who "nervously paces outside the room." Thanks for the info Megan, and thanks for dropping the $25 fee to copy my records so I could have a more competent dentist

Awful experience! I had a tooth extracted here and a bone graft done for a future implant. I asked for an honest quote of what the work might cost and I made my decision to move forward based on the price.I was terribly overcharged after the fact. I rely on honesty and did not find it here!!
Also, as the dentist pulled my tooth his tool slipped and gouged my tongue! I was willing to let it slide but after the recent bill I feel I need to let people know how terrible my experience has been.
Their oversight in billing might seem like pennies to them but to me its a considerable sum! Get Real!
