I will start by saying that I really did love Fulcrum while I was a member. The trainers were knowledgeable and approachable, classes had good variety, and they always kicked my butt in a great way. However, when needing to cancel my membership prior to moving abroad, I was wrongly charged four separate times (I think, I've honestly lost count), the last of which being 5 months after I moved. I had so many loose ends in my life to tie up, and I absolutely did not expect Fulcrum to be the most irritating of my issues during this time of transition and into the time that I am abroad. I would

I moved to Portland just a few months ago and was dragging my feet in joining a gym to continue my same boring gym routine, I heard about Fulcrum from a friend and gave their trial a shot and loved it so much I became a member. Work outs are always high energy and fun, the hour class goes by so quickly and I always leave class feeling like I have put my body to good use and I feel great! The Fit Pros are always attentive, no matter how many people are in the class, and are always quick to point out how you can adjust your posture to make sure you don't hurt yourself. I HATE working out, but I loved the work outs here. Fulcrum gave me a month free trial and I had so much fun. I'm a mom of two, and have a limited time to actually escape for a workout, but they have lots of time slots for classes and very knowledgeable trainers! The only thing I would change is an option to pay month by month instead of 6month or yearly commitments.

I am visiting Portland from San Diego and I'm so glad I found this place! The workout was amazing, music was great, members were friendly, and the instructor was awesome! You can tell they actually know what they're doing when it comes to fitness and it's not just someone making you do random things. I wish I was staying longer so I could take another class! Thanks again!!

Unconditional 5 star review based on the three major criteria most important to me:
1) Great facility: Clean, good and well maintained equipment, large spaces for the group classes, easy parking, good bathrooms and showers.
2) Knowledgeable and nice instructors: The "fitpros" are, in fact, professionals. They know body mechanics and have a huge diversity of safe drills to call upon to work all parts of your body. They make sure you're moving in a way so that you don't get hurt. And they're all really nice and friendly - no meat headed egos at Fulcrum among the staff

I started going to Fulcrum over 40 and overweight. I have always been intimidated by gyms and 'gym people', and I've never stuck to a fitness program for more that a month. Almost 3 years later, I'm stronger than I've ever been, and I'm still in love with Fulcrum. Their trainers are knowledgeable, attentive professionals. The members are friendly and encouraging at all fitness levels. The overall effect is a welcoming and supportive community of people who keep each other motivated. No matter where you're starting, you owe it to yourself to give it a try!

I am really enjoying my trial at Fulcrum Fitness MLK. I think I eventually want to sign up for a membership because I'm loving the variety I'm experiencing in all of the boot camps I have done thus far! I'm starting to feel really good about myself and the goals they have helped me set. I'm also making smarter choices with my food based on their nutrition advice! Would totally recommend Fulcrum Fitness to anyone to looking to get back into shape, optimize their health or to look for ways to start good habits about fitness and diet.

Fulcrum is a great gym and a fun community! I started on a short-term promo and was instantly hooked. All of the trainers are rockstars - they are very friendly, knowledgeable in all things fitness, and are focused on making sure people are having fun and being safe with the workouts. I love the variety in the workouts and can see my body changing. It's hard work, but I wouldn't want to do in at any other gym.

This is the best way to start the day before work! The early morning classes, excellent and involved instructors, as well as the compelling workout matrix keep me coming back for more! This is by far the best experience I have had over the years with an independent gym. Trainers know you by name and appropriately oversee your progress/technique, fantastic camaraderie with fellow gym members, and the music is always bumpin' driving a fulfilling workout every time! I go to both locations, MLK & Hawthorne, each one having their unique flavor but love them both. Their holistic approach to

My husband and I tried out Fulcrum and did their 14-day trial. We've been looking for a good gym in the NE, and heard great things about this place. Overall, we really enjoyed our experience - Great trainers, difficult but achievable workouts, and awesome variety.

However, the thing that deterred us from signing up was the expense - for the two of us, it would have cost ~$300 a month, which seems a little out of hand for our household. That cost also did not include any of the small group training or kickboxing sessions, only the boot camp classes. To include those, it was even more (~$360

I would rate Fulcrum as the best gym experience I've found. I am now a member at MLK with unlimited Matrix Bootcamp classes.
The workouts are never boring. Always creative and designed by a professional trainer who's on the staff for this purpose. You can attend every day and work the total body without repeat.
My investment works out to about 5-7 dollars per class, attending 4-5 times per week. You meet with a trainer on a regular basis to track your progress in terms of mobility and goals. If you're not ready for Bootcamp yet, they offer a small group training class with about

Great gym, helpful and friendly staff and awesome classes! All of the trainers have been great to work with, the range of times available for the bootcamp classes is amazing. I can always squeeze in a class in the afternoon if I slept in, making it super easy to stay on track with getting back into shape.
I purchased a Groupon for the Fit Life Challenge and everything was straightforward. I completed the personal training session where they take measurements, see where you are at physically, train on a few key movements and discuss your goals. Awesome and easy. Went to my first class the next

I absolutely love this place and the classes!

I started out here because of purchasing a Groupon and got a really good deal on it. Little did I know how worth it it would be!
I had already been working out regularly for a while and would consider myself pretty fit but even so, I was not prepared for how challenging the classes can be!

But don't be intimidated, it's all how you want to pace yourself and you can modify the moves and take breaks if necessary depending on your level.
My stamina increased very quickly and I found myself going from feeling completely worn out after class

This place is a five star gym for sure. I've never had a bad class. Sure, some trainers are better than others, but everyone is good. I always get a good workout and I always get help when I ask.

The trainers are where you go from "great gym" to "amazing gym that I want to recommend to everyone who cares about fitness."

Hadas is fabulous. She's welcoming, friendly, and great at offering help / corrections. She's also taken the time to go through more difficult moves with me to make sure that I can do them successfully. I've thanked her after class

This place is the best! The trainers are super personable and truly care about each member's individual needs, no matter where they're at with their fitness goals. The workouts are varied and actually a lot of fun. There's just such a good vibe to this place, it feels like more of a community, which you won't find at an average gym.

They offer classes in the morning, afternoon, and evening so I can kinda pick and choose when I want to go, which makes it really convenient.

If you go with any sort of consistency, you WILL see and feel results. I am stronger and feel better since

Okay so like most people I saw this as a great opportunity to get in shape for the summer.. but i didnt know what I was getting into. First, i believe they are not upfront about associated costs after you purchase a living social or groupon deal from them. It may cost you $39, but you will end up getting charged $99 without even knowing it.
So heres the skinny. In order to even get your first class, you have to sign up on their site and give them credit card info (red light #1) secondly, You have to wait until they tell you you can take your first class (red light #2) third, if you chose to sign
