Stafford, Owens, Piller, Murnane, Kelleher & Trombley, PLLC, can trace its roots to the merger of two prestigious law firms in 1990. The offices of Fitzpatrick, Trombley, Owens & Lahtinen of Plattsburgh, New York, which focused its practice on litigation for 35 years, with senior partner James Fitzpatrick serving the community as Chairman of the New York State Power Authority for 15 years and as a New York State Assemblyman for 10 years.
Prior to serving in the U.S. House, Congressman Owens was in private practice in Plattsburgh for thirty years. As the U.S. Representative for New York's 21st District (previously 23rd) for five and a half years, Congressman Owens developed a deep understanding of issues directly impacting his constituents, including matters related to U.S.-Canada trade, healthcare and agriculture.
Susanna S. Piller, who joined the firm in 1992, serves as co-managing partner of the firm and practices in the areas of health law, commercial real estate, corporate, commercial transactions and finance. She represents healthcare clients in corporate and transactional matters and provides counsel on a wide range of healthcare operational matters.
Jacqueline Kelleher began at Stafford Owens in 2000. Ms. Kelleher advises businesses, not-for-profits, and public entities on various legal matters, focusing on labor and employment matters, contracts, litigation and risk management. She frequently advises clients regarding labor relations and collective bargaining, executive compensation, hiring and separation, workplace investigations and related areas.
Edward Trombley, a founding member of Stafford Owens, focuses his legal practice on Municipal Law, Insurance Law, General Litigation, and Medical Malpractice Law. Mr. Trombley received his Bachelor's Degree in 1955 from St. Michael's College, Colchester VT. He then attended Albany Law School of Union University, where he received his Juris Doctorate Degree in 1959.
