Services
A dental cleaning is a professional cleaning that is performed by your Post Office Square dentist or dental hygienist. A dental hygienist is professionally trained to not only clean teeth but also to help patients prevent, reverse, or arrest periodontal (gum) disease. Professional preventative dental cleanings should be performed every six months on children and adults.
We take pride in helping our patients achieve a beautiful smile, as well as helping protect their teeth and gums. Even if you have periodontal (gum) disease, we can take steps to reduce your risk of tooth loss, such as with a deep cleaning in Post Office Square. Bacteria live throughout the oral cavity, but they thrive in the plaque that builds up on your teeth.
Fillings allow us to restore teeth that are damaged by decay. After a filling, your teeth will look and function normally. Your Post Office Square dentist will regularly evaluate your teeth for dental decay. Our aim is to help you prevent cavities, but if you get one (or some), we are here to help restore your teeth with high-quality dental fillings.
A tooth extraction is a relatively quick outpatient procedure performed by your Post Office Square dentist. There are two types of extractions: simple and surgical. Teeth that are broken or impacted require surgical means to remove them. Everything else is considered a simple extraction. The three most common causes of extractions are trauma, periodontal (gum) disease, and dental decay.
Air abrasion is a drill-less, gentle approach to decay removal, functioning as the ideal option for patients with small cavities while reducing the need for dental anesthesia. It is a great alternative for patients who experience dental anxiety. An air abrasion unit is an instrument that is like a sandblaster.

The Good:
Staff is polite, friendly and I liked the dental cleaning staff. I also had a good experience with Dr. Phan, who did orthodontics for me.
I became a patient of Dr. Hammer's about 8 years ago. At the time he recommended a crown, but I had no dental work done with him until last month. As a person who reviewed charts, he listened and seemed knowledgeable and pleasant.
The Bad:
I finally took him up on his crown advice last month, and wish now I had never been a patient of his. His name, "Dr. Hammer" is not just poetic irony. It should be taken as a warning.

Dr Cohen is retired. Dr Dello Russo has left. Dr Gadeberg is the only one that's good. However, the hygienists are horrible. I've been going to them for years every 3-4 months for cleanings and deep scale cleanings. However, this year, I've been in dentists every month due to pain. Why? They don't clean your teeth thoroughly.. Now I'm fighting bone loss and a ton of pain. I had a deep scale cleaning today with someone else and they asked me: "Have you ever got a deep scale cleaning like this?" - I said no.. I won't go back to the Dental Group again.

If you want to be charged top dollar for minimal service- this is the place to go. Their receptionist- Angelique? is rude and not very organized or competent. They called to say they dentures were ready- scheduled an appointment and called to confirm the appointment...Then 24 hours before the appointment they cancelled- saying there was an insurance problem. Apparently they were not smart enough to recognize the problem before confirming the appointment.

Unfortuantely, I never had the opportunity to meet Dr. Hammer. His receptionist, Zoey, was rude, rigid and not willing to work with me over a simple request. I simply needed my mom, a current client, to call and make an appt for me. She needed to be present and due to availability reasons, it was best she make the appt. I told Zoey I could give her all needed information now so she had it on file. Then, my mom can take over. She insisted this was a strict policy and a simple request of having my mom make an appt for me could not be met. Keep in mind, my mom is a current client. So, Zoey is not

I've seen my fair share of dentists. Dr. Cohen is my current go to and I'm most definitely a fan. My last dentist was at Gentle Dental at Park Street and he was terrible. The sales tactics with trying to get me to have major surgery were alarming, so I left.
A couple of my co-workers, including my boss, highly recommended Dr. Cohen to me. I've been seeing him now for a couple of years. Oh, and all of that major dental work that I desperately needed to have done as per Gentle Dental Park Street? Yeah, not so much. Dr. Cohen said I actually don't need a root canal, crown, and

Dr. Hammer worked on a Sunday to complete bridge work for me,because I had an important meeting on a Tuesday. He completed the treatment on a Monday, without saying a word to me. His work is stellar, as is his character... Dr. Della Russo spilled the beans ! He is another outstanding, fair and wonderful dentist in his specialty of oral surgery.. It is a real schlep for me to get there from the far suburbs, but they are worth it. Thank you both.

Without question I recommend this office (and Dr. Dello Russo in particular). While I had known for some time that I needed to have some dental work done (I had a bad root canal done as a child), I had been avoiding it due to dental phobia. Suddenly the tooth that I had been ignoring for so long became dramatically infected - my face looked as though I were hiding a tennis ball in my cheek and I was in absolute agony. I visited several dentists, all of whom gave me pain killers and antibiotics, while telling me the work was too complex for them. By the time I reached Dr.Dello Russo's office

I happen to find this office when I needed to have my root canal done and ended up decided to come on full time as a patient. The office is lovely, very clean and professional. However, be aware of their billing tactics and the facade they give off as being your advocate and all for patient care is not the actual case. Like most other dentists, they are all about the money and if there are any issues with insurance they will not help you in the slightest of ways. I had referred other fellow employees and friends to this dentist under the assumption that this was a great place. Dr. Cohen really

One of the two professionals in the Boston area to whom I have loyalty. From the moment I walk in to the office, to my time with the most fantastic and attentive hygienist, to the entry of the dentist (who I fear more than anyone or anything) I have complete confidence and trust that these professionals will provide solid treatment. I highly recommend The Dental Group and my referrals have obviously agreed with me since they've been going there for years.
Would I rather avoid the dentist? Yes! Do I think they are the absolute best in the area? Yes!

I saw these folks when my regular dentist was on vacation. They came highly recommended so I was expecting more.
The office is easy to get to and clean, which I appreciated, but that was about it. The front desk staff was churlish, and the doctor himself was downright dismissive. I explained what my concern was and he just said "No....don't worry about it." I explained that I WAS worried, and d'uh, that was why I WAS THERE on my lunch hour. Didn't help.
Would not go back given the choice.
