Dr. Matthew Harris grew up in Ridgeland, MS, and attended Mississippi State University where he earned his undergraduate degree in 2006. Dr. Harris continued his studies at the University of Mississippi Medical Center where he earned the degree of Doctor of Dental Medicine in 2010.

A dental examination is an important first step in evaluating your child's oral health. The health of your child's teeth and mouth are important for their overall well-being. The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry recommends a visit to the dentist within six months of the eruption of your child's first tooth, or by their first birthday.
At Mississippi Smiles Dentistry, our family dentists are committed to helping children develop good oral health habits that will last a lifetime. In addition to regular brushing and flossing at home, we recommend all of our patients receive a professional dental cleaning along with their oral examination at least every six months.
Dental sealants are thin white coatings that are applied to the chewing surfaces of back (molar) teeth. The chewing surfaces of molar teeth contain multiple pits and grooves which are difficult to clean with brushing and flossing alone. These areas can harbor plaque and bacteria, increasing the risk of developing tooth decay.

My kids love this place. This was their first time and the staff made them feel welcomed. They were very nice and generous to each individual child and suited their needs. My 3yr old did awesome and the staff loved how mature she was and did not need my assistance with her because she is so independent. My oldest did not complain about the roughness she had experienced from other offices that left her mouth sore for days and she couldn't eat after just getting her teeth cleaned. This is the absolute best children’s dental clinic I have ever been to. They are so professional, extremely knowledgeable, and sweet! My child was full of anxiety and they were so patient and caring with her. She was all smiles when she left. I have never seen the whole staff full of smiles and kindness— from the moment we checked in until the time we left! You guys are awesome!

Amazing place with awesome staff! They were able to put my terrified child at ease. We had been turned away from other offices due to her phobia. They were so welcoming and fun that she barely noticed she was at a dentist. They were also very thorough and explained everything! Totally worth the drive for us!

We love Mississippi Smiles! Dr. Harris and his team are friendly, professional, and knowledgeable. My kids LOVE going to the dentist (a MUCH different experience than I had as a child)! I'm so thankful that my children won't have the same anxiety that I do when it comes to taking care of their smiles. They offer TVs with kids' shows playing all the time (even on the ceiling, so the kids can watch while they're in the chair), video games and a play structure in the waiting area, flavored toothpaste for cleaning, and parents are always allowed to go back with their kiddos.
