Smith & Johnson is your choice for modern legal services in Southwest Minnesota and beyond, including the Twin Cities. Born and raised in Slayton, Travis and Kayla are committed to providing cost-effective, friendly, and professional legal services. Our personalized, small-town approach means you won't feel like your file is getting lost in the shuffle.
Our clients range from individuals, families, and small businesses to municipal clients and even other attorneys. We focus on both a general practice in real estate, estate planning, and municipal law, as well as appeals. Moving into a new home can be exciting, but there are a number of local, state & federal laws that need to be considered before you sign the dotted line.
Travis J. Smith is a founding partner of Smith & Johnson and the elected Murray County Attorney. In law school, Mr. Smith quickly realized that his three passions were legal research, writing, and oral advocacy. These passions led him to focus his practice on appeals.

Mr. Smith excels at examining the record, drilling down into the fine details of a legal argument, and weaving the facts and law together to show appellate courts why his clients should win.
Moving into a new home can be exciting, but there are a number of complicated local, state, and federal laws that need to be considered before you sign the dotted line. Smith & Johnson keeps up with all of the trends in real estate law as they affect residents and businesses in Southwest Minnesota to ensure your rights are protected.
Our team has experience representing small cities and townships in a wide variety of areas ranging from planning and zoning, ordinance drafting & enforcement, right-of-way issues, and misdemeanor criminal prosecution. As a part-time county attorney's office, our team is familiar with the legal issues and budget constraints that small municipalities face.
