Bad news first: There is no such thing as life without pain and from time to time, struggle. Here's the good news: Where there is pain, there is opportunity. With the right help and support, pain and struggle can actually lead to incredible growth, healthier relationships, improved self esteem and a more fulfilled version of ourselves.
My goal is to give you a safe space, to guide you through the pain, to help you navigate through struggles and to make sure that throughout the process, you are learning what you're made of. I will also work with you on developing the tools and strategies you need so that in the future, you will be able to effectively cope and manage challenging emotional experiences.

I believe that as a therapist, I bring so much more than professional experience and qualifications to my work. I bring life experience, personal successes and failures and my ability to connect. Professionally, I began my career in the early 90's as a medical social worker in the Baltimore area, after getting my undergraduate degree in Social Work from the University of Maryland.
I provide individual therapy for older teens and adults (age 16 and up), utilizing a blend of cognitive behavioral, dialectical behavioral, psychodynamic and strengths-based approaches. After an initial evaluation, we will work together to determine your goals and an action plan that is based on what you want to accomplish, not based on what I think you should work on.

First appointment went well. Tried to schedule a follow up during some difficult times, and my e-mail went un-answered. After sending a follow-up email, I finally got a response for an appointment, but by this time it would be nearly two weeks since the life event I went through, and I didn't get the support I needed.
I get that sometimes e-mails get lost in inboxes, but given the circumstances I really expected better responsiveness.
