Silk Hands provides Shiatsu, Deep Tissue Massage, Swedish Massage, Reflexology Massage and many other services at our Sarasota, FL location. We concentrate on the muscles and connective tissues of the body for improved circulation, relaxation, pain relief, and overall health maintenance and well-being.
Shiatsu is a physical therapy that supports and strengthens the body's natural ability to heal and balance itself. It works on the whole person - not just with the physical body, but also with the psychological, emotional and spiritual aspects of being. Shiatsu originated in Japan from traditional Chinese medicine, with influences from more recent Western therapies.
Deep tissue massage therapy is similar to Swedish massage, but the deeper pressure is beneficial in releasing chronic muscle tension. The focus is on the deepest layers of muscle tissue, tendons and fascia (the protective layer surrounding muscles, bones and joints). While some of the strokes may feel the same as those used in Swedish massage therapy, deep tissue massage isn't the same as having a regular massage with deep pressure.
Reflexology is the ancient art of foot massage which originated in China and which was also known to the Ancient Egyptians. Energy runs through the body in channels known as meridians and massage of the feet stimulates these energy channels, promoting healing and relaxation. Every part of the foot corresponds to an area of the body, and massage of the feet stimulates the corresponding part of the body.

I am a regular customer; at least twice per month. Grace (Yuzi Hong) is extremely knowledgeable and professional. She provides the best shiatsu and/or deep tissue massage to treat muscle tiredness and tenseness in addition to the aches, pains and stress of exercise and sports that I have ever experienced. I highly recommend her.
