Dr. Jamie loves having long-lasting relationships with her patients and their families, as she is a Pueblo native and loves treating patients of all ages comprehensively. Her approach to dentistry is one of comprehensive, educational dentistry done in a minimally invasive way. She loves to help figure out why things have broken down, and how to prevent this in the future.
Dr. James Swanson retired after a prestigious 50 year career here in Pueblo. He still stops at the office every day to say hello, to "keep everyone in line!" and give us a laugh and encouragement. Dr. Jim Swanson is a proud graduate of St. Louis University Dental School, University of Colorado - Boulder, and the esteemed Pankey Dental Institute.
Pediatric dentistry (we do not use papoose restraints or take children to the hospital for complex needs). We have multiple High Resolution Pulse Oximetry units available to screen our patients (of ages 2 or more) for how well they are sleeping and oxygenating. We review this data with you in person and make recommendations for referral and/or treatment.

Came in for a 2nd opinion on my newborn’s severe lip tie. First dentist we went to in Pueblo refused to do anything after only talking to us for 5mins and making us wait for over an hr. My midwife recommended family smiles and it was exactly what we needed. Dr Jaime Johnson was Great! She knew exactly what we were going through and was soo helpful and caring. She walked me through the procedure, explaining all details and was able to resolve my daughter’s lip tie same day. Dr. Jamie and everyone on staff were welcoming and wonderful! I’m a nervous and anxious patient and I was always fearful of going to the dentist. Not so at Family Smiles! I was greeted warmly by name and when it came time to get my fillings done I was given a soft blanket and Nitrous to ease my anxiety. Dr. Jamie, by far and away, gives the most painless injections I’ve ever had. She is so kind and warm and always makes sure that I’m calm and comfortable. I've been going to this dentist for about 7 years. I went to another dentist a couple blocks away and they told me I had multiple cavities I needed to have filled. I had never had a cavity in my life so I sought a second opinion. Family Smiles did x-rays and a thorough exam and told me I had no cavities! 7 years later and still no cavities! Family Smiles is honest and reasonable and not interested in just making money. They always treat me like a member of their family.

This pratice is so special. From the moment I started coming to them, I have felt like Im part of a family. They treat me with tenderness, respect and kindness. A professional, comforting, fun atmosphere with the absolutely best staff and doctors I've ever had the pleasure of meeting. Dr.Jamie and Dr.Jim do an amazing job while making you feel at ease. A beautiful building and amazing operatories. It makes me feel like I'm at home. I would recommend it to anyone who wants a nice, clean, and amazing dental experience.
