Danny Looney graduated from Oklahoma State University in 1974 and move to Dallas to accept a job on the audit staff of Ernst and Ernst. He became a CPA in 1976. Between 1976 and 1986 he worked as controller or financial officer for three oil and gas firms in the Dallas area. In 1986 he formed his own oil and gas exploration and operating firm.
