I can't say enough about this office and the staff here! After a very stressful week our bunny Nova had a bout of GI stasis and was hunched over grinding her teeth in pain. They were able to see her right away and today, the next morning, I'm watching her play and munch on hay! Dr. Anderson is recommended by the house rabbit society for a reason, and when I adopt a dog some day, I'll definitely be seeing Dr. Sam.
In addition to exceptional veterinary care, Paws & Claws Animal Hospital offers the area's leading pet boarding services at The Diggs at Paws & Claws. Our qualified staff has developed a comfortable and relaxed environment for your pet to enjoy. Your pets will be treated with love and the utmost care when they visit our brand new, modern facility.
Animal behavior can be a mystery to humans, and figuring out the cause of undesirable behavior is not always easy. That's because our pets are interpreting their interactions with people by following a set of rules and values that are different from our own. These rules were written when pets weren't domesticated, and they are mostly focused on interacting with their own species.
When it comes to your beloved pets, maintaining good health is of paramount importance to you. This is easier with some pets than with others, and exotic animals in particular can require a certain amount of specialized knowledge in order to keep them healthy and happy. Luckily, we have a wealth of knowledge to share here at Paws & Claws Animal Hospital in Wilmington, NC.

I really wanted to get in to this vet as it looks the most trusted with exotic animals in the area. I called a year ago when I first moved to the area and was told they are not accepting new patients. Called again over a year later and was told the same thing. Very disappointing to hear. Then asked to be put on a list and was told they are not even taking lists. Don't waste your time if your new to the area on this practice.

We have been seeing Dr. Smith for over 25 years. We were at another vets office before he opened Paws and Claws. When he moved, we moved with him. He has taken great care of Maggie, Bandit, Willow and Copper. We would not trust anyone else. He and his staff are like family. Willow and Copper love them.

This is the only clinic in town that will take sugar gliders as patients. I have 10 of these fluff balls and really needed a vet to take care of them. I had 1 glider lose almost all control of his back legs and I thought for sure I was losing him. His previous owner did not feed him properly nor give him the calcium he needed and we were still learning. The vet we saw took excellent care of him and taught us proper diet and vitamins. We have since taken 2 more in that we’re not properly cared for in previous home and again the same kindness. They are very good with the little ones. Happy fur
