Regular nose-to-tail wellness exams, early detection, and age-specific assessments help keep your pet healthy. Early detection using diagnostic testing provides a complete picture of your pet's health, improving outcomes, and providing baseline results. Our team consists of highly trained veterinarians who offer a full array of specialty services in various veterinary disciplines.
Regular nose-to-tail wellness exams, early detection, and age-specific assessments help keep your pet healthy. Many animals are good at hiding signs that something is wrong, so subtle changes in their health or behavior might be overlooked without preventive care. At Animal Hospital of Largo, our treatment philosophy is aimed at prevention with early diagnosis and treatment.
Early detection using diagnostic testing provides a complete picture of your pet's health, improving outcomes, and providing baseline results. Our staff is committed to helping you get a full picture of your pet's health through laboratory and diagnostic testing. Annual blood testing helps us determine a normal baseline for your pet.
Our experienced veterinary team provides comprehensive medical care, ranging from routine to advanced procedures and treatments. Although we handle the majority of your pet's medical and surgical needs in-house, we occasionally refer patients to veterinary specialists or specialty clinics when advanced training or equipment will be beneficial.
From routine to advanced surgical procedures, our practice offers safe and effective options using state-of-the-art equipment and best practices. At Animal Hospital of Largo, we understand that you are probably nervous about submitting your pet to any type of surgical procedure. Our compassionate and caring professionals monitor your pet before, during, and after surgery and take exceptional care to ensure your pet's safety and complete recovery.

Animal Hospital of Largo has been our vet of choice for 15yrs! Dr Mike & Dr J & their staff are simply the best! We've always received great, compassionate care for our fur babies! We value the relationship we've built & trust our 4 legged kids will get the best care so much, that even though we relocated to Riverview, FL we still drive to Largo for our veterinary care!

This place is everything you want in a vet... The doc has a great personality and is willing to explain things in more common terms if you don't understand. The staff is friendly, caring and funny. Pricing on services is reasonable. This is the only vet my dog wants to go see.. See you soon!

I am very pleased to find a veterinary clinic that took the time and cared about my puppy! I was very impressed with the staff on how professional they were and patient with me on any questions I had. They got me in right away to have my pet neutered. Helped me with selecting the right food for my little guy as he his only 3.8 pounds. I was very nervous about his surgery due to his size but they did a great job and made sure he was taken care of. The veterinarian also called me before they started the surgery to let me know my puppy was cleared. So far I am impressed with the 2 times I have been

I have used this animal Hospital; since, I purchased my puppy a year ago. Her annual review was completed last week. This is a great practice, my dog loves going there. They take very good care of her. The only complaint is this establishment is never ever on time with appointments. They always run late. Either its the supervisor of the office that doesn't know how to make appointments and keep them. They seem to have enough staff to do the job; however, you can't go in still. You sit outside and have them come to you. Which is NOT efficient because 1 person will walk to your car up to 5 times

I can not say enough good things about this place! This out vet that we have gone to for our dogs regular appointments (vaccines, check ups)--but have never used a vet for an emergency situation, until now.

My dog was bit by any other dog in downtown St.Pete. We cleaned up the wound; our pup seemed fine, so we moved on with our day. The next morning, the whole side of her face was swollen and I was TERRIFIED. They were only able to get me in for a drop off appointment (seeing that it was mid-day and they already had a full schedule)--so I took my chances and went to a different vet that accepted

I was impressed at first, however not so much now. On March 9 I took my 11 year old dog in for arthritis in his hips. I explained he was having difficulty going up one stair and through his dog door. DR J CONFIRMED arthritis in his hips and prescribed pain meds. I asked them to clip his nails. This procedure split his nail on his right front paw. I called and was told to soak it in Epsom salts and give him his pain meds. When I called back today 11 days later after no improvement the receptionist said they did not cause the problem and refused to let me speak to the vet or let me come in today

We have been using AHoL for over 11 years. They were local to us when we lived in Largo and had seen our 2 english bulldogs since they were puppies. We moved about 2 years in, we tried other vets, they just didnt hit the marks that Animal Hospital of Largo did. We returned and drive an hour each way to have our dogs seen here. From the front staff to the techs to all three doctors we are overwhelmed by their compassion and knowledge. We recently lost our last bully. They were extremely supportive and even cried with us. They were their babies too, not just patients. With new puppies in the works

I am so glad to have found this vet. Our prior vet was amazing however we had an emergency that they could not help us with which is how we found Dr. Gardner at Animal Hospital of Largo. From the first phone call I knew we found the right place. My girl chi is 14 years old and they spoiled her with lots of love. On surgery day they told us to call as much as we wanted, the provided updates several times. The staff went out of their way to treat not only our old gal Sophie like family but also us. They calmed our fears. We have found a new forever vet! I wish I could give them 10 stars.

While I am always pleased with our visits I'm very upset With the girls you having running your front of house. My girl has been in your care for over three years. While we are in a pandemic, and I myself have just gotten over Corona Virus your staff refuses to let me get My girls flea and Heart Worm until she has her three year checkup.
My girl is aggressive with strangers and will not let someone take her out of my car. Just won't. I've never missed an appointment, and the girls at the front said they'd speak with someone and give me a call back and I never got a call. Shows

We have been customers for more than a year. Had a fecal test done on our dog, Cooper. I expected a call with the results a day or two after the test. Days passed and no call. So we called to check. They didn't know, but someone would call us back. Days passed and no call. We went in to the vet after two weeks and they told us the test was positive for hookworms. Two weeks later without any contact! Grossly incompetent bordering on animal cruelty.

So, we began to wonder about our other dogs. So we asked about Sammy our big hound. Oh, he was positive for Giardia. We tried to call, but your

The staff was wonderful, but their policies are a little off. I took my dog there because our last vet always tried to up sale services. We prefer to utilize 1-800 PETMEDS, but Animal Hospital of Largo has a policy of charging $15.00 per scrip per year.(All prescriptions require a $15.00 annual fee per medication.) I never had to pay this fee with another vet and I'm not about to start. There are over a dozen vets within a 3 mile radius of out location so we keep looking.

This Vet Hospital is wonderful! Staff is so caring. Samantha, the receptionist, does her job to a (10) on accuracy, customer service and knowledge of this operation. Yesterday I called and needed to get my canine in for a paw issue he somehow scratched up pretty bad. Samantha squeezed us in for 10:20- BOOM!! All well w/my pet Harry nothing that a little topical solution couldn't fix. Point is, when you have pets they become your family. Just as family members you want the best in medical situations, no matter how big, or small. For you pets needs with caring hearts and fantastic customer service

Max got quick and efficient treatment. The staff seems to love the animals they treat. Max has made many visits to this practice and shows no fear or anxiety around the staff. It is evident the staff treat the dog with kindness and respect. Max always comes in and leaves with his tail wagging. If Max is happy, I am happy.
